"Deep in the depths of this world lies an evil so primal and pure that oblivion itself cast it to this world. You could be halfway across the world from its whereabouts and it will still know where you are. It always knows..." ~ Unknown Scholar

"Purge yourself of your insecurities, your sins and your desires! and bend the knee to this worlds new God!" ~ Archmaiden Izumi

Yozuri Kazzar is a cryptic and malicious First-Class Elder Dragon that serves as the true main antagonist of Monster Hunter: Dragon Millenium and Monster Hunter: Seclusion. Yozuri Kazzar along with Fatalis, DSI and Dire Miralis are responsible for starting the conflict that nearly tore the world apart many years before the modern time period. It is introduced as the final Title Update siege fight in Dragon Millenium: Into Darkness and appears in Seclusion as the final boss.

Physiology[]

Eldritch monsters that resemble jellyfish. They feature long-length tendrils that shoot from below its body, blood red bioluminescence, sharp large ridged-shaped spikes upon its shoulders, its shoulders paired with two large tendrils that seem to serve as arms and a bioluminescent jellyfish-esque head. The bioluminescent jellyfish-esque head constantly glimmers red and has a sinister abode to it, if the hunter looks hard enough they hallucinate evil eyes staring right back at them.

Abilities[]

Yozuri Kazzar can possess inhabitants via the unleashing of waves that usurp the synapse and force actions via differing wave frequencies, these waves can reach across the entire world with only the highest altitude mountains being a safe place due to the frequencies becoming muffled when reaching above the Troposphere. Additionally, its shoulder-spikes retain magnetic properties that can be used to shatter the foundations of entire continents. It can unleash waves that transform particles into concussive dust that morph the surrounding particles into the same concussive dust that then explodes when the right wave frequency hits and detonates the particles, the size of these explosions can obliterate entire oceans and continents depending on how much concussive dust is allowed to form. They naturally retain the dragon element that they can utilise to fuse with the particles in the air along with a combination of the wave frequencies to create a concussive star-like formation that then is instantly imploded upon which transforms into a black hole that sucks up everything within an unprofound distance. The distance of this black hole increases the closer to the surface that it forms; if it were ever initiated above the Sunlight Zone of the ocean, it would annihilate almost everything present in the surface world. This special ability is known as the Abyssal Event Horizon. This is the reason many attempts are made to force Yozuri into the abyssal depths of the ocean. Its domain is said to be below the Trench Zone although its unknown if this is true but its presumed to be likely considering the creatures nature.

Behavior[]

Yozori Kazzar is a cryptic enigma. Its manipulation of wave frequencies can cause so much damage but the reason for this is unknown though its speculated to be the way the ancient elder dragon commutes with other members of its kind, perhaps during mating seasons though this is just a hypothesis.

Habitat[]

Have only ever been documented in the Eldritch Trench. Whenever in the presence of the entity; the water has a dark red and black hue to it due to the waves unleashed that alter the particles all around it.

Tracks[]

Tracks: Eldritch remains, Unknown Gel, Self-Killed Carcass

Rage and Tired States[]

  • Rage State: The bioluminescence from its head will glow a brighter red along with the veins on its shoulders and larger tendrils glow bright red and glimmer between bright and dark. Movement/Attack Speed increases by 1.95x
  • Tired State: N/A

Mounts[]

The hunter "mounts" via hanging onto its head with a grapple hook and then stabbing away. If it succeeds, Yozuri'Kazzar is temporarily staggered.

Role in Dragon Millenium: Into Darkness[]

Yozuri'Kazzar appears in Monster Hunter Dragon Millenium: Into Darkness as the Bigger Bad antagonist of the game. Introduced as the final Title Update and as a siege fight. Its revealed to have possessed various monsters (including Elder Dragons) to attack civilisations and ecosystems all around the world and intends to swim to the surface from its abyssal home to unleash an Event Horizon that could very well wipe out the surface world. The goal is to destroy the organ that allows Yozuri'Kazzar to form an Event Horizon and as a result, force the elder dragon to flee back into the demonic depths that it came from.

Role in Seclusion[]

Yozuri'Kazzar returns in Monster Hunter: Seclusion as the main antagonist.

Tropes that Apply to Them[]

  • Ancient Evil: Yozuri'Kazzar is an ancient being likely as old as Dire Miralis and Fatalis.
  • Been There, Shaped History: Yozuri'Kazzar along with DSI and Dire Miralis are responsible for a large conflict that occurs in Dragon Milleniums expansion.
  • Knight of Cerebus/Game Changer: The damage Yozuri'Kazzar causes is cataclysmic and is taken seriously by the characters.
  • Demonic Possession: It can use wave frequencies to control the synapse and the nerve systems of many beings and technically 'possess' them.
  • Greater Scope Villain: The scope of Yozuri'Kazzars actions extends far and wide throughout Millenium and Seclusion.
  • Cosmic Horror Story: Yozuri'Kazzar has some tinge inspirations from Lovecraftian horrors.

Ecology[]

Habitat Range[]

Documents of its existence have only mentioned an area called the Eldritch Trench. Little is known of the Trench besides the countless bodies of underwater creatures and divers whom attempted to discover the area for themselves; their deaths likely to be Yozuri's doing.

Ecological Niche[]

The mass grave that litters the area outside the Eldritch Trench implies that Yozuri has no competitors. Its sinking of the Abyssal Citadel was as tragic as the day Castle Schrade fell to Fatalis although records of the Abyssal Citadels existence in the modern time period have been vanishing left and right.

Biological Adaptations[]

It has magnetic prowess that are intertwined with the properties in its shoulder spikes which means that various massive chunks of the sea bed tend to orbit around the eldritch monster. It can unveil trails of explosive powder from itself due to wave frequencies, the change of wave frequencies is identifiable via a pitch sound which is the cue to superman dive any explosions the demon dishes out. Its very presence instills many dark thoughts of uncertainty and fear, this is reflected in-game with its ability to inflict the Fear status. Yozuri'Kazzar has a regen factor that can only be rivaled with Fatalis, being able to regenerate organs and body parts but this is said to take a long time.

Role in the Food Chain[]

Minimal - Extremely Low - Low - Average - High - Extremely High - Apex - Legend - Daemon

Behavior Towards Other Monsters[]

Has a special ability to possess other underwater monsters to aid it in combat. Lorewise, it can can possess monsters on the surface as-well but this doesn't apply to gameplay.

Attacks/Dragon Millenium: Into Darkess[]

Note: In this game, it is fought in Horizons Fall.

Phase 1:[]

Tendril Whack: It will left either its left or right large tendril up and then whack the tendril in front of it and behind to hit any hunters within that proximity.

Tendril Skewer: It will rear its tendril to the opposite end with the sharp point poised and then skewer the targeted hunter with the tendril.

Tendril Grab (Pin): It will hover upwards and poise its smaller tendrils at the targeted hunter, if they successfully hit the hunter they will grab and curl all around the hunter in a pin where tendrils proceed to crush the hunter before then shooting the hunter outwards at another hunter in which a dragon elemental explosion occurs and the hunter is either already carted or has small tinges of health left. This pin is just as damaging as Safi'jiivas pin attack, this damage does apply to being hit by the pinned hunter that was shot out like a cannonball.

Body Spin: It will poise both its tendrils up and then proceed to spin like a torpedo while also moving towards any targeted hunters while doing so. During its spin, it will unleash from 4 to 8 Dragon Elemental Trackers from its body.

Dragon Elemental Trackers: These occasionally form from smaller tendrils or from Yozuri'Kazzar performing its body spin. These Dragon Elemental clouds hover towards a targeted hunter at moderate speed and if they hit the hunter, they explode into a large draconic explosion. Inflicts Dragonblight.

Body Lift: It will hover upwards at a shockingly rapid rate which can deal minimal damage.

Body Descend: It will hover downwards at a shockingly rapid which can deal medium damage.

Seabed Toss: The spikes within its shoulders will occasionally glimmer which indicates that a large chunk (typically rock) of the seabed is been magnetically pulled and now orbits Yozuri'Kazzar. It will occasionally shoot out these seabed chunks as large projectiles that deal extremely high damage. Inflicts Waterblight.

Seabed Shield: The Seabed shield is present when Yozuri'Kazzar has magnetised up to 6 seabed chunks, they will proceed to orbit around the elder dragon; hitting any hunters from coming closer thus making it a challenge for hunters to get near it. It will often shoot out all 6 at once after its done with using its shield.

Seabed Beam: Sometimes the seabed chunks it magnetises are all clustered together and then crushed into little rock chunks that are then shoot like a beam that spins 360 degrees horizontally or vertically before the rock chunks all scatter. Inflicts Waterblight.

Concussive Dust Explosion: Orange and black dust starts to appear in a certain area (usually where a targeted hunters current position is). A certain sound cue is heard along with the levels of dust residue which indicates that it is about to explode. Inflicts Blastblight. These Concussive Dust attacks can range from small, to medium to large.

Concussive Underwater Obliteration: Same as the Concussive Dust Explosion attack except this explosion size covers 3/4 of the entire area. Can potentially OHKO.

Dragon Tendril Beam: It will poise its left or right large tendril and then shoot a colossal-sized beam of dragon element and shoot it either vertically or horizontally depending on the hunters position. Inflicts Dragonblight.

Tendril Beam Spin: It will perform the Dragon Tendril Beam attack with both large tendrils and then perform a Body Spin attack; combining both attacks and shooting the tendril beams 360 degrees multiple times in a row. Inflicts Dragonblight.

Little Zipline Beams: Its smaller tendrils will shoot out small beams of dragon element akin to the dragon element beams that Nakarkos shoots. The amount that shoots these dragon beams vary between one and all of them at once in randomised directions. Inflicts Dragonblight.

Geyser Eruptions: It will occasionally unleash Concussive Dust deep beneath the surface which causes explosions down below: forcing geysers below the ground to erupt. Inflicts Waterblight.

Draconic Concussion: It will aim both its large tendrils and all of its small tendrils in the same direction before then unleashing a colossal-sized beam of dragon element that is 1.5x the size of the elder dragon itself before then tilting the beam 180 degrees horizontally or vertically; various concussive explosions occur outside of the beams radius during this attack. This attack can potentially OHKO. Inflicts Dragonblight and Blastblight.

Phase 2:[]

Note: The surrounding ocean will be an even redder hue along with various Debris/Comets crashing down into the ocean in the background (not slowing momentum despite passing through waters). Lorewise, this causes massive earthquakes.

Note: Yozuri'Kazzar cannot be slain thus all hunters need to break the centre exterior shell of Yozuri'Kazzar and then break the organ inside which will force Yozuri'Kazzar to flee back to the depths of the water. This centre exterior is impenetrable in the first phase but possible to break in the second phase. Unlike Kulve Taroth, Yozuri'Kazzar never leaves the locale.

Presence: It will hover upwards as unsettling sounds echo the surrounding area while the red hue surrounding the ocean turns purple briefly. If this wasn't successfully evaded/blocked, the hunter will be inflicted with Fear.

Underwater Typhoons: Up to three Waterspouts underwater will start to form and then hover around the surrounding area for 15 seconds before dissipating. Inflicts Waterblight.

Draconic Typhoons: Same as the Underwater Typhoon attack except the typhoons will be double the size and encased in an aura of dragon element. Inflicts Dragonblight and Waterblight.

Debris Crashdown: Meteors will crash down to the ocean with no momentum lost and typically right on top of the hunter. These meteors are triple the size of the meteors that Crimson Fatalis summons. Deals extremely high damage.

Abductive Frequencies: Tranverse Waves will be shooting out from the head of Yozuri in a beam-like fashion, after several seconds these transverse waves will produce unsettling sounds and then the beam with the waves will rotate 360 degrees like a searchlight. Any hunters caught in this will be inflicted with Possession for two minutes and will attack hunters not hit by the beam.

Abductive Fodder: Longitudinal Waves will be shooting out from the head of Yozuri in a beam-like fashion, after several seconds these transverse waves will produce unsettling sounds and then the beam will shoot out far past the areas borders, implying that Yozuri has possessed other creatures far from its abode. After 5 minutes, packs of Epioth, Sharqs and various other aquatic creatures will swarm the area and attack hunters at rapid speeds and dealing significantly way more damage than they normally would. After two minutes, Yozuri'Kazzar will unleash concussive explosions upon each of them: killing them all.

Despotism of Nature: This attack is a combination of the Seabed Shield/Toss attack, Abductive Frequencies Attack and Abductive Fodder attack.

Abductive Legion: This is the same as the Abductive Fodder attack except it summons larger monsters instead of small ones such as Sinradeus, Kaiser Turbotaur, etc

Astro Tsunami Collision: It will move to the centre of the area before then doing a body spin as the debris under the seabed is then lifted up and orbits around Yozuri'Kazzar. Then a massive water funnel forms around the elder dragon before meteors crash down into the ocean, some hitting the seabed, some exploding mid-ways. Yozuri'Kazzar will then hover away from the underwater funnel as the funnel then proceeds to vacuum in hunters and the water within the space of the funnel will dissipate and become dry land (forming a lot of smoke around the are due to water vapour), after 15 seconds if the hunter/s has been vacuumed in, a giant meteor will crash straight down into the hard surface of the funnel hole which causes a colossal-sized explosion to occur which affects the entire area besides select-few hiding holes that has Yozuris exterior material to serve as protection. Sort of like Safi'jiivas Sapphire Star attack, being unable to reach these hiding holes in time will result in an instant cart.

Abyssal Event Horizon: It will move to the centre of the area before then unleashing a void-like enigma that combines with the dragon element from Yozuris tendrils that turn into a bright white light that flashes and can inflict Stun if the hunter hasn't evaded the flash. This bright white light gets bigger and bigger before then exploding into a colossal explosion that hits the entire area and can deal extremely high damage to hunters hit by the explosion but the real danger is the black hole that forms after the bright star-like object has exploded. This black hole turns the surrounding waters almost pitch black with Yozuri hovering above it and remaining still as the black hole vacuums in everything in sight, the hunter is required to reach to the underwater safe spots (the same Yozuri exterior material hiding holes from the Astro Tsunami Collision attack), if this fails, it is an instant OHKO. The Black Hole remains for 10 seconds and the effects of the black hole is visible from the hiding hole with various objects, trees, rocks, tectonic chunks, vapour, water and even living monsters getting vacuumed into the black hole and evaporating into non-existence. This is its rarest attack and it only performs this attack when it is low on HP.

Carves[]

Can be carved nine times like Fatalis and Dire Miralis (unlike the forementioned two however, its entire body retains the 9 carves instead of certain body parts) - Note: This only applies to Seclusion as Yozuri'Kazzar is unkillable in Dragon Millenium: Into Darkness.

Yozuri Kazzar
Yozuri Kazzar Icon by WhiteoutTM A demon of legend . One with a thirst for terror would comply on its existence being amongst the darkest corners of the world, As Above yet So Below. Its age is considered to be bound to be ancient, as is emphasised in the legendary quote "the oldest emotion to mankind is fear".

Notes[]

  • It is the only monster made by the creator that is Pure Evil and confirmed to be malicious rather than acting on instinct. It also retains a clear moral agency making it a genuinely evil being.
  • Based on a combination of the Box Jellyfish species from real life, Lovecraftian antagonists such as the Shoggoth and Yog-Sothoth, the term "omni" referencing the Japanese word for demon and the representation of the hallucinogenic eye patterns via the Illuminati. Alongside the concept of a Black Dragon-Level monster underwater.
  • Due to Yozuri'Kazzar being a First-Class elder, it is capable of living outside of water but this isn't ever explored due to the unnecessity of the concept of an underwater creature being on land.
  • Yozuri'Kazzar can cause immense damage physically like other First-Class elders but what sets it apart from other Worldbreakers is the psychological damage it can cause just by existing.
  • Magnetism was removed from Yozuri'Kazzar due to the user wanting to tone down the number of ailments it can inflict although magnetism is still part of its lore.
  • Credit for the icon goes to WhiteoutTM.
  • Yozuri'Kazzar has its own success and fail themes: a nod to Amatsu which had its own success theme.
  • The first Worldbreaker/First-Class Elder the creator has created.
