Radiant Magnamalo is a subspecies of the Fanged Wyvern Magnamalo first appearing in Monster Hunter World Cataclysm's second DLC.

Physiology[]

Radiant Magnamalo, like regular Magnamalo, is a hulking Fanged Wyvern that bears some resemblance to a tiger. It is primarily clad in black and dark grey plates of armour, with a pale turquoise underbelly. Its scales are partly bioluminescent in nature, glowing a bright turquoise, becoming brighter the angrier the Radiant Magnamalo is. The head has a short, tigrine snout, holds two foldable tusks under its cheeks, and sports a large pair of jagged grey horns, just underneath which are its long, thin ears. Both the forelegs and hindlegs end in four-clawed digits, and each foreleg is armed with a single large serrated blade, which is kept folded back, parallel with the leg. Magnamalo's tail ends in a spear-like tip composed of two spikes, unlike regular Magnamalo, that can flex outwards to form a double spear shape, with an odd light seen from between them. Hidden within its back are a series of bone blades/spikes that spring out from its hide whenever it becomes enraged.

Abilities[]

Radiant Magnamalo is capable of creating mysterious glowing lights from its mouth, tail, back, and forelegs thanks to its bioluminescent nature, secreting a substance which can illuminate its surroundings. Those hit by these lights tell of pain so high it can only be described as the colour white, sowing severe burns on their skin. Similarly to Boltreaver Astalos, it can create an almost blade-like beam of light from its tail that can slash and burn its prey at the same time. Despite its size, it is capable of leaping an astonishing distance. While recoiling from a leap, it can fire several balls of light from its tail before leaping again. Magnamalo uses its thin, sharp tail for several attacks as well, such as somersaulting while using the blades of its tail-tip to strike like a whip.

Placement in Food Chain[]

Radiant Magnamalo is a predator that is easily more powerful than an apex, making it a top-class predator that hunts down a large range of prey, not backing down from anything.

Behaviour Toward Other Monsters[]

Radiant Magnamalo will take on any creature that it deems to be either a threat or food, only backing down when its life may be in danger from the fight that took place.

Tracks[]

Radiant Magnamalo can leave Clawed Footprints and Bioluminescent Scratches on the ground, and Glowing Spikes on walls.

Specific Locale Interactions[]

Radiant Magnamalo can often be wandering the areas of the Sunken Catacombs, looking for anything to hunt. It can also be seen resting in certain elevated spots, cleaning its forelimbs and watching the world go by, waiting for prey to emerge.

Special Behaviour[]

If Radiant Magnamalo sees another large predator, it will roar at them and attack or initiate a turf war.

Unique Statuses[]

Radiant Magnamalo can be affected by the Frenzy Virus and turn Frenzied as a result, and they've even been known to be capable of overcoming the Frenzy Virus and attaining the Apex State as a result. Radiant Magnamalo could also be found in the Tempered, Hyper and Furied States.

Roar: Radiant Magnamalo will rear back and then unleash a loud roar, only blockable with max earplugs.
Quick Bite: Radiant Magnamalo will bite forwards in a quick lunge at a Hunter, which can damage and knock back any Hunters hit.
Leaping Slash: Radiant Magnamalo will leap towards a Hunter when they are at a distance and slash at them with its claw as it lands, which can damage and knock any Hunter hit away. This attack can be repeated twice.
Charge: Radiant Magnamalo will lower its head before charging headlong at a Hunter, which can damage and knock back any Hunter hit.
Shoulder Tackle: Radiant Magnamalo will drop its shoulder to the ground and then charge forwards a short distance, which can damage and knock away any Hunters hit.
Claw Swipe: Radiant Magnamalo will dig its claw into the ground and swipe in a horizontal arc in front of it, knocking away and damaging any Hunters hit.
Claw Slam: Radiant Magnamalo will lift one of its forelegs and punch down hard in front of it twice in a row, knocking away and damaging Hunters hit by the attack.
Tail Spin: Radiant Magnamalo will brace itself before spinning with its tail extended, slicing forwards three times in a row, knocking away and damaging Hunters hit by any part of the attack.
Tail Slices: Radiant Magnamalo will use its tail to stab forwards and then slice upwards afterwards, dodging back as it performs the second attack, damaging and knocking back Hunters hit while inflicting Lightscourge.
Laser Blade: Radiant Magnamalo will extend the light in its tail and slash forwards in a large horizontal arc, which damages Hunters and knocks them back if hit while also inflicting Lightscourge.

Enraged[]

When Enraged, Claw Swipe, Claw Slam, Leaping Slash and Tail Spin will inflict Lightscourge due to the light emanating from every damaging part of Radiant Magnamalo's body.[]

Horn Swing: Radiant Magnamalo will swing its horns as it charges towards a Hunter, damaging and knocking back any Hunters hit. This attack can be repeated twice.
Leaping Slams: Radiant Magnamalo will leap towards a Hunter when they are at a distance and slam down its forelegs several times, one after another in quick succession, which can damage and knock any Hunter hit away.
Flare Charge: Radiant Magnamalo will set its back and forelegs blazing with light and charge towards a Hunter furiously, damaging and knocking back any Hunters hit while inflicting Lightscourge.
Tail Stab: Radiant Magnamalo will adopt a low stance with its tail up before lunging towards towards them, stabbing its tail at the end of the dash, damaging and knocking back any Hunters hit while inflicting Lightscourge.
Light Slashes: Radiant Magnamalo will lift its tail and set it blazing with light before lightly slashing forwards three times, sending three small slashes of light hurtling towards a Hunter one after another, knocking away, damaging and inflicting Lightscourge onto Hunters hit.
Radiant Cleave: Radiant Magnamalo will pour all of the light from its body into its tail, extending it massively before bringing it down in a huge slice, burning into both the ceiling and the floor and dealing a large amount of damage to Hunters hit while knocking them back and inflicting Lightscourge.

Mounts[]

Radiant Magnamalo can be mounted on its head back or tail. When its head is mounted; it will bite, drag one of its claws on the ground or swing its head into walls to knock the hunter off. If its back is mounted; it will wriggle, slam its forelegs on the ground or smash the side of its body into a wall to knock the hunter off. If its tail is mounted; it will smash it into the ground, stab it forwards or swing it into a wall.
