In-Game description[]

Ophalimis
X Ophalimis is a nocturnal piscone wyvern. It uses bioluminescence on its head and hide its large body in the dark.

Physiology[]

At first glance, Ophalimis resembles a Plesiosaurus. But the head looks like that of a crocodile. Its body is dark green to black in color on the upper side. The belly is light blue. Similar to Delex, Ophalimis has no legs but fins that allow them to move on land, similar to a Lagriarcus. The teeth are conical and visible even when the mouth is closed. The head also stands out from the rest of the body because it is very pale. The luminous organs that shine in red and blue are also located on it.

Behavior[]

The way of life of this monster is still largely unexplored. Since they stay in the deep sea during the day and come to the surface or land only at night to hunt. However, they seem to react quite aggressively to sudden touches, as evidenced by the fact that if caught in a fishing net they will rage immediately, earning them the nickname Fisherman's Curse.

Tracks[]

Grinding marks, damp scales

Specific Locale Interactions[]

In areas with bodies of water, it will sometimes jump into the water, but without leaving the area. After a short time he will come out again and continue the fight.

Interactions with Other Monsters[]

Ophalimis is a rather nervous monster. Although it has turf wars with some monsters, it actually avoids confrontation. It is terrified of the Abyss Lagriarcus and will flee to land during the day if there is one on the map. With normal Lagriarus, he will only change area.

Turf Wars[]

with Royal Ludroth[]

The Royal Ludroth roars and charges at Ophalimis, who uses his long neck to bite the Ludroth in his own, but his mane protects him from serious damage. However, he cannot stop, which is why both crash and take the same amount of damage (Outcome: tie)

with Plesioth[]

Ophalimis tries a tactic similar to that used against King's Ludroth. However, he is previously hit by Plesioth's oversized hitbox and falls over. (Outcome: lose)

Abilities[]

Ophalimis can use his head in a variety of ways as a weapon on land. It is able to blind hunters and other monsters with a brief flash of its luminous organs. Furthermore, it is able to use its head like a blade with quick movements, which can tear profusely bleeding wounds when hit. He can also shoot high-pressure jets of water from his mouth, similar to Plesioth.

Ecological Information[]

Taxonomy[]

Ophalimis is a member of the PiscineWyvern that was recently discovered by the Guild. He gives a subspecies called Sapphire Ophalimis that competes with Zamtrios in the Frozen Seaway.

Habitat[]

Ophalimis spend most of their life in the water and only come to the surface at night. Therefore, their distribution area is difficult to estimate. However, there seems to be a very large population off Deserted Island that is so revered in the village of Moga that legends are told about them.

Ecological Niche[]

Ophalimis feeds on small to medium-sized sea creatures. This ranges from Schooling Fish to Arowana to Ludroth, which is why they often clash with Royal Ludroth. Their predators include Lagriarcus. But adult Gobul, Nakarkos and Valstrax sometimes capture Ophalimis as well.

Biological Adaptations[]

Like many other deep-sea creatures, they have developed very large eyes. They have also evolved a form of eyelid to protect themselves from their own flashes of light. However, they can't see much with their eyelids closed, which is why flash bombs are very effective against this monster.

They have long bodies that offer little resistance in the water. Their skin is quite vulnerable on land and they are in danger of drying out after as little as 3 hours on land. While they have a decent speed on land, they are very fast in the water, reaching top speeds of 55 km/h.
