Mycongus are Brute Wyverns.

Mycongus have uniform beige-colored bodies. They are covered in armored plating that is actually a form of fungus that grows on their bodies. The armor is a orange-yellow with protruding ridges that are similar to brackets or shelves. The ridges are a reddish-brown with white margins. This fungal armor is present on their heads, back, tails, chests, and thighs.

The fungus on its body constantly produces spores. These spores serve to protect the Brute Wyverns, as the spores have a variety of effects depending on what the wyvern had eaten prior. Purple spores cause Poison, yellow spores cause Paralysis, light green spores cause Sleep, red spores cause Blastblight, and brown spores cause Soiled.

Habitat Range

Mycongus have been found inhabiting the Abysmal Trench, Ancient Forest, Everwood, Jungle, Jurassic Frontier, Marshlands, Mycelium Hills, and the Sunken Hollow.

Ecological Niche

Mycongus are primarily fungivores as their diet consists of mushrooms and other forms of fungi. However, they occasionally eat vegetation and insects. They are prone to being attacked by predators such as Glavenus

Biological Adaptations

Mycongus' main feature is the special fungus that grows only on their body. This fungus shares a symbiotic relationship with the wyverns. The fungus forms an armor that protects the wyverns from harm, and the wyverns provide a place for the fungus to grow and eventually produce spores to reproduce. The fungus produces more defensive spores should it and the host Mycongus be in danger. The effects of the spores depend on what type of mushroom the Mycongus ate prior. Eating toadstools cause Poison spores, Parashrooms cause Paralysis spores, Mopeshroom cause Sleep spores, Nitroshrooms cause Blastblight spores, and Exciteshrooms cause Soiled spores. The spores are secreted through pores on the ridges on the fungus.

Mycongus are not very aggressive compared to other wyverns but are prone to aggression if provoked or agitated. Mycongus are born without the fungus, so a parent Mycongus has to spread it to its offspring. The fungus begins to grow on the offspring when it becomes a juvenile.

Mycongus is a portmanteau of myco- (relating to fungi), hongo (Spanish for mushroom), and fungus. Yoroshikin is a combination of 鎧 yoroi (armor) and 真菌 shinkin (fungus).
