Mucilage Mizutsune is a Leviathan and a subspecies of Mizutsune introduced in Monster Hunter: Rampage.
Physiology[]
Mucilage Mizutsune mostly resembles standard Mizutsune, with a few key differences, however. Rather than white with pink fins and purple fur, it is a jet black with navy blue fins and brown fur. These fins have grey markings on them. It's claws and teeth are both grey, and it's eyes are a striking purple color. Throughout it's body are silver markings, that turn blue when enraged.
Behavior[]
Much more aggressive than their common counterpart, Mucilage Mizutsune will attack hunters on sight, seeing them as threats to their territory. Like regular Mizutsune though, Mucilage Mizutsune become extremely aggressive during mating season, and will attempt to take out any intruding monster, even going so far as to get itself killed by more powerful monsters.
Ecology[]
Minimal - Extremely Low - Low - Average - High - (Extremely High) - Apex - Legend
Habitat[]
Mucilage Mizutsune prefer to inhabit volcanic areas, such as the Elder's Recess or the Forgotten Volcano.
Ecological Niche[]
Because of their status as an Apex level subspecies, Mucilage Mizutsune secure themselves as the top of the food chain in any given environment, save for other Apexes and Elder Dragon-levelled monsters. It usually consumes small monsters like Slagtoth, or Uroktor, which means it has to compete with monsters such as Bazelgeuse or Agnaktor.
Biological Adaptations[]
Mucilage Mizutsune makes use of an odd tar-like oil substance, which is highly flammable. It coats its fur with this mixture, and can fling it in the form of bubbles. These bubbles are able to explode and can leave burning residue. Mucilage Mizutsune also leaves this substance wherever it slides, leaving a trail of burning oil behind.
Game Data[]
Rage and Tired States[]
- Rage State: Mucilage Mizutsune's fins will flare up with burning orange markings, and its attacks will grow faster.
- Tired State: Contrary to Rage State, Mucilage Mizutsune's fins will droop, and it will become sluggish and unable to detonate its tar bubbles.

Description[]
Mucilage Mizutsune | |
---|---|
"Mucilage Mizutsune are elusive Subspecies of Mizutsune that utilize a flammable substance in the form of detonating bubbles, rather than soapy water-based bubbles." |
Attacks[]
Mucilage Mizutsune shares most of the same attacks as standard and Soulseer Mizutsune, along with some new ones. However, instead of regular Water element soapy bubbles, Mucilage Mizutsune instead uses a flammable oil-tar mixture.
- Oil Bubbles - Mucilage Mizutsune will swing its tail in rapid succession, releasing bubbles that inflict Oily and Bubbleblight on contact.
- Bubble Barrage - After roaring, it will spin multiple times, releasing bubbles in all directions that may cause Oily or Bubbleblight.
- Oily Slam - Mucilage Mizutsune slams its tail anywhere near itself, causing either Oily or Tarred.
- Tar Puddle - Sometimes, after slamming its tail on the ground or other attacks, Mucilage Mizutsune leaves a puddle of slick, oily, tar that will cause Oily and Tarred when moving through it.
- Ignition - Mucilage Mizutsune detonates any Tar Puddles on the ground, causing Fireblight or Blastblight (Blastscourge in G/Master-Rank).
Enraged[]
- Flaming Oil Bubbles - Same as Oil Bubbles, but lit on fire. May cause Fireblight, Oily, or Bubbleblight.
- Multi-Slam - Same as Oily Slam, but performed up to 4 times in a row. May cause either Oily or Tarred.
- Tar Globs - Mucilage Mizutsune shakes and breaths 3-5 globs of sticky tar, leaving Tar Puddles on the ground and causing Oily or Tarred.
- Flaming Trail - As it slides around, Mucilage Mizutsune leaves behind a long trail of flaming tar behind it, causing Fireblight or Tarred.
- Detonating Bubbles - Same as the Flaming Oil Bubbles attack, but the bubbles detonate on contact with a surface or a hunter, causing either Fireblight, Tarred, Oily, Bubbleblight or Blastblight (Blastscourge in G/Master-Rank.)
Notes and Trivia[]
- Canonically, Mucilage Mizutsune was discovered before Soulseer and Apex Mizutsune.
