Metalshard Forest is an area that appears in Monster Hunter: New World.

General Description[]

A recently discovered area filled with strange flora and fauna, it gets its name from the fact that the plants that make up this forest have properties similar to metal (an anomalous trait). This is due to the fact that the soil has a surplus ammount of metals (like copper and iron), and metallic minerals, which eventually allowed the flora to incorporate them into their biology, using most of it for defensive purposes, and the plants also use a metallic support structure that was developed because of the conditions they grow in.

The fauna that inhabit the area are able to cope with the high ammounts of metal in their diet, which would be toxic to other creatures, and even incorporated the metals and metallic minerals into their biology as well in some cases. Naturally, the high ammounts of metals in the ecosystem make the flora and fauna rather toxic for consumption by people and creatures not native to the area.

Regardless, this is a unique ecosystem, with creatures found nowhere else thus far.

Notes and Trivia[]

  • MC Goji the Wolf took inspiration from Species of Seaweed that have high and toxic levels of copper in them, and is fed upon by a species of goat that feeds on it and no other plant, and just puts it on a bigger scale.
  • As pointed out by the User called Setheo while MC Goji spoke about it to him, it resembles the forest in the future earth in Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters, though as MC Goji the Wolf states, this resemblance was unintentional on his part (Even though he enjoyed the Godzilla Anime Trilogy).
