The Spargaron (spuar-guh-ron) is a incredibly powerful Carapaceon of many traits, featuring a high expertise in battle, and a naturally brought, insatiable desire to kill anything that is prey, an enemy, and those it can find. From the shear danger it poses, it is a G/Master Rank exclusive monster, with Guilds advising that hunters form a strategy and a team to attempt to slay it.

Appearance[]

Spargaron
Spargaron Icon by Chaoarren The Carapaceon responsible for a mass killing both in the past and modern times. Extremely versatile with a mastery of combat spanning different fighting methods, the Spargaron cannot be defeated by simple tactics alone. A examination of one of its victims has revealed that it has a wind power yet to be fully understood.

The Spargaron has a unique appearance among most Carapaceons. Like the Decurpar of the Zubani River, it has no Neopteron resemblant gasher (backside) like the Taurs, as all the vital organs are stored inside the thorax. Covering its entire body is an armour made out of Ocecet Crystals and crafted steel. Several deliberate loose pieces act as spikes, mostly found along the legs, back, around the head, and the "elbows". The crystals shine grey, creating an illusion at a casual glance that it is silver steel. Without the crystal armour, covering up its exoskeleton is a cloak made out of crafted skin, minerals, and other materials found nearby. Oriental resemblant patterns of orange, grey and brown mark the black surface of the cloak, made by the methods the Spargaron used to craft it. This cloak droops down as it is long, giving the appearance of a robe, the colour scheme in turn making it resemble that of an emperor's. Although mostly hidden by the armour, some pieces of the robe stick outwards from around the head and its rear. Spargaron's body is large and tall, the shape being straight at the front and rounded at the back. Its head is located at the front top of the body, positioned away from easy hits by hunters. The eyes have short stalks ending in eyes with a shape that makes them give off an angry glare. Ocecet crystal armour covering the head is in the shape of a helmet, covering the mouth and two crystal piece spikes on it give the look of horns. Multiple joints are in the Spargaron's legs, allowing it to make movements that would be impossible for a normal Carapaceon. With armour, these legs are slanted down, but without armour weighing down on them, they bend upwards and increase the Spargaron's height. Undoubtedly the thing that stands out of the Spargaron are the arms. Both of them are long in length and can reach a fair distance outwards on their own. Along with arms are thorn shaped plating that grows organically from the Spargaron like its chitin that is able to be changed in position and even moved around with movements and reflexes. The arms end in pincers with two digits, with a hardened knuckle to them. Spargaron's signature parts are the special bladed bones across next to the pincers that turn to the front and are extended by the plating when the monster is in full combat. It can morph the blades from small daggers to a long reaching sword depending on how the plates are fixed. Plates can also be used to form a shield to go with the blade. Certain situations allows for the Spargaron to slightly split the pincers apart, pushing the blades to the side and closing a bunch of plating around the pincers so it can hold weaponry directly.

Unlock Requirements And Build-up[]

The hunter must fully explore the Spotted Coast's second and much more dangerous region, the "bracketed reef", and defeated the apex monster of the locale, the Quaiyoto. After investigating strange crystals, named "Ocecet Crystals" by the Guild, the hunter is alerted that a strange occurrence has happened in the locale. Not only has a ravine arisen from the distance, there has been a violent event along with it.

The hunter arrives at the scene in a special assignment. They find something is very off, there is no life to be seen around the locale. A notice is received via message, stating that all the large monsters are hidden away in the Island Scatter region and give a foreboding suggestion that whatever came from the ravine has scared them away. As hunters arrive at the area closest to the ravine, they make a horrifying discovery; the place has been turned into a mass slaughter house. Dozens of monsters, small and large lay spread out across the island, all dead and with varied causes of death. Several have severe blunt force injuries, and others have been gruesomely severed into pieces. All the corpses have much of their flesh eaten, and the event has taken place over several days and the last had taken place just a few hours prior. The hunter has no choice but to return with the news.

After showing the evidence, the guild sends in investigators to the ravine from knowledge about when these killings occur. They find the remains of an ancient fortress tower, only recalling that there was a statue in the middle in the shape of a Carapaceon. After scholars research the ancient history of the locale, a discovery is made. The locale's coast was much further than it is now, and the fortress had been built to protect against monster attacks on a close-by town. At some point in time, a mysterious monster decided to attack the fortress after its prey was stolen by the inhabitants. Although it was heavily guarded, the monster easily killed the majority of its defenders and forced the rest to abandon the fortress. The town too had to be evacuated urgently after the monster began to siege it too, killing more in the process. Soon after, the fortress and town were destroyed when an extreme storm hit the area, sinking much of the fortress and the entirety of the town into the sea. After further investigation of older scrolls, they see more of the same about this monster. And it was apparent that this monster is extremely dangerous and was thought to have died with the collapse of the old coastline.

The Guild comes to the horror of the fact that this monster did not in fact die, and that it has resurfaced with the ravine, now called the Wakening Sollow to feed and kill again after a state of deep unconsciousness. With the monster identified, they name it; Spargaron. Without hesitation after a few quests, they demand the hunter go out to the area to slay the Carapaceon before it fully decides to leave the locale and potentially create catastrophic ecosystem breakdown from its murderous appetite.

Behaviour[]

The Spargaron, as described in the records of the old civilisations that have encountered it before, tell that it is outlandishly aggressive towards those that interrupt its habitat and steal its prey. Not only is it extremely aggressive, it also has a bloodlust, actively searching out and killing monsters and life that have never brought harm to it just because it was aggravated by a few and wants to kill much more than that. In battle with hunters, it wastes no time in engaging them in combat after waking up. After hunters shatter its Ocecet Crystal Armour, it becomes intensely enraged, fully becoming the monster described in the scrolls.

Introduction[]

A Disquietude Meeting: Wakening Sollow: Area 1: The Forsaken Emperor Of Battle

From the bridge, the hunters drop down onto the tower of the ruined fortress. They look around the area for signs of their target monster, the Spargaron, which has been designated an extremely dangerous monster. As they look, they see weaponry of the tower still in a working order, the cannons and ballistae look old but usable. Around the area, they check for hidden places where it could be hiding. The sight below is nothing but steam and blackness, and the walls surrounding them are nothing but towering rocks with little to note. Soon they look to see the Carapaceon statue that the researchers mentioned in their report. Unlike the rest of the objects here, it is in a bizarrely perfect condition, even showing a shine. It doesn't take long for hunters to notice that the shine is coming from above. Above in the ceiling there are giant and hundreds of Ocecet Crystals all clustered together, their transparent surfaces letting in the light.

Outside, a storm is beginning to set in. A large wave crashes against the ceiling with a hollow roar. Loose crystals are shaken loose and shattered against the large. Unsurprisingly, hunters are given a scare as a sudden gust of wind pulses from these shards down to the depths below. Hunters, too busy distracted by this mere occurrence, fail to notice two eyes rise and look upon the hunters. The sounds and the wind generated from the crystals have awoken it. And it so happens to be potential prey. Wind is released from what they thought was a statue and plating, in rough dagger shapes extend outwards from the arms. It is up to the leader (the quest initiator) to go and check. Carelessly, the hunter goes right up to it to see what happened, which would be a big mistake. The hunters looks, sees the eyes gazing down at them, and instantly realises that the statue is in fact the monster they are looking for, the Spargaron. As soon as they realise this, the two arms of the statue swing outwards in half a second as the Spargaron makes a roar, muffled by the armoured helmet it wears. They look up to see the right arm swing up and being unable to react in time, are hit in the side and are slammed down below the Spargaron. Involuntarily reflexing, the hunters swings out their Hunting Knife to try and defend themselves from being grabbed. Suddenly, a blade hidden alongside the plates clicks into forward battle position and blocks the hunters Hunting Knife as it were nothing but a needle. Without getting to react, the Spargaron knocks the hunter across the floor with a simple shove of its blade. The hunter bangs hard against the stone bricks, taking several moments to recover. Focus then cuts back to Spargaron. From the other arm, a second blade emerges. If the hunter is alone, it will point the second blade menacingly at them and then draw it back. If there are more hunters, they narrowly evade as the Spargaron swipes at them, getting their attention away from helping their teammate. The Spargaron then swings out its dormant legs, pushing it upwards in a small but dramatic hop.

Now fully awakened and ready to begin its next killing, the Spargaron swings its left and right blade around in a very threatening manner. Then it again spreads its arms out; more plating moves to the pincers to extend the blades length out from daggers to a standard Great Sword length. And then, it bends down, swinging the blades to ground length close together, then spreads them out apart and postures itself in its battle position. The camera pans to behind the hunters as this happens and the hunt begins right as the Spargaron finishes entering its combat stance.

Mount[]

Spargaron is unable to be mounted. Any hunters who try to do so are often struck out of the air in retaliation.

Rage And Tired States[]

  • Enraged: Eyes glow orange.
  • Tired: Bubbles from mouth, becomes less likely to preform combos and blocks.

In its second phase, Spargaron will be in a permanent state of rage.

Useful Information/Helpful Hints[]

Focusing attacks on the Spargaron's arms will temporarily disarm its versatile blades. The Aether Element has severe effects on the Ocecet Crystals channeling of Wind that the monster uses as armour and swords and bringing weapons harnessing it could prove vital to turn the tide of the battle.

The Battle/Attacks And Abilities[]

  • Frontal Block: Spargaron will raise its blades in a cross or guard position on noticing an imminent attack. Any attack that hits its front during this stance is blocked, dealing very little or zero damage.
  • Side Block: Spargaron twists its arms around to cover its sides from attack.
  • Evasion Hop: If an attack is coming towards Spargaron while it is turning around and cannot effectively block it, it is able to still avoid damage by making a short hop away.
  • Blades Are Sharp: Depending on how damaging the attack is, all of Spargaron's blade attacks have a chance of causing Bleeding.
  • Forward Stab: The Spargaron will thrust one of its blades at the hunter. Being a basic attack it comes out extremely quickly. Can move while doing this attack.
  • Forward Slash: Using one of its blades, it hacks very quickly downwards towards a hunter. Can move while doing this attack.
    • Follow-up Forward Slash: After doing one slash, it will do the attack again in this combo with the other blade and always moves in on a hunter during it.
      • Forward Slashing Spin Combo: A further combo of the follow-up combo. The Spargaron does its two Forward Slashes in a slightly slower fashion, and this time it will use a Spin Slash and focus the blade that was used to begin the combo.
  • Side Swipe: Spargaron swipes one of its blades across to cover the area of one of its sides.
    • Side To Forward Slash: Spargaron will do a Side Slash first, but will walk at a hunter unlike the regular version to signal the combo. After the Side Slash it quickly takes a step at them and does a more violent and almost instant version of the Forward Slash that does a fair bit more damage than the standard one.
  • Thrice Dice: The Spargaron swipes one blade across the front, the uses the second blade in a follow up to go forward and cut in a vertical slash and finishes with a curving slash with both blades. Spargaron can move while doing this attack.
  • Low Slash: Spargaron swipes one of its blades in a low arc right below it. Used if hunters move too close to its body.
    • Low Slash To Side: The Spargaron does its Low Slash attack, then effortlessly turns it into a Side Slash to combat two sides at once.
  • Wide Slash: An attack done with a blade at moderate or long length and preferred at long. Spargaron will fold its selected blade across its body so that the tip reaches behind the head. Upon doing this it does a brief charge towards the nearest hunter in its view and violently slash across a wide front with the blade. This attack upswings on a direct hit and has a high chance of Bleeding. This attack also leaves it vulnerable for a second after doing the slash.
  • Carapaceon Slash: This attack is the standard Taur/Shogun "hugging" attack. Spargaron will do this without much build up and will do it when hunters are right up to its body.
    • Inwards And Outwards: The Spargaron walks towards hunters and does the Carapaceon Slash at them. After the arms cross, it swings them out with greater force and speed than the normal Outwards Slash. Blocking the Outwards Slash takes out a lot of stamina and still does considerable damage.
  • Outwards Slash: Like the Carapaceon Slash in reverse, its arms are folded across and are swung outwards; the blades slicing everything in front of it.
    • Outwards And Inwards: The Spargaron swipes outwards with its blades, then looks for the closest hunter. It will then hop at the selected hunter and use the Carapaceon Slash with a lunge forwards.
  • Spin Slash: One of Spargaron's favourite attacks to use. The Spargaron without much warning will begin a swipe towards a hunter and then completely spin around in a circle using the own strength of its arms to hurl itself. The other blade becomes dangerous too in the spin, which ends with the second blade cutting the area right next to the its side of the Spargaron while the starting blades delivers the main force of the attack with a narrow slash downwards that does considerably high damage. Most often it is used in combo attacks.
  • Jumping Cross Chop: It will first appear to wobble its legs as it were going to fall over, but in the same second it bends downwards and folds its arms over each other. It then sharply jumps at a hunter and brings its two blades down on them in a crisscrossed chop.
  • Anti-air Slash: Spargaron cannot be mounted and this is how it will respond to aerial attacks. On noticing the hunter approaching it quickly bends downwards and does a fast wide reaching upwards and curved slash with the edge of one of its blades. On being struck the hunter is upswung and falls down to the ground.
  • Turning Swipe: If hunters try to attack its rear and back too much, the Spargaron responds by quickly swerving around and swiping both blades folded together right through them in a diagonal cut.
  • Close-in Run: The Spargaron will put its blades pointed forwards and to the sides and then begin running towards a hunter that is too far away for a simple walking approach. Hunters hit by the body are knocked in a slide along the floor with slight damage while the blades will knock them rolling with moderate damage and with a chance of Bleeding. It it stops the run at a hunter it will raise its arms back to their usual positions and transition into an attack.
  • Heavy Slash: With a blade in long range length the Spargaron backs up from the hunter with the selected blade in a steady position. It then bends its legs down and turns, moving the arm backwards and pointing the blade behind itself. Spargaron then makes a short jump towards the hunter, swinging the blade all the way to the front in a heavy and perfect arc. The blade then smashes into the ground and Spargaron's legs strike to with weight. The area around the blades hit is affected with a split second standard quake effect. If hit by the legs or lower arm hunters take moderate damage. Being struck directly will cause Bleeding, heavy damage and send hunters flying away.
  • Shield Block: Along with using its arms for blades, it can also form a shield using the plating. The blade on that arm folds back and cannot be used for that duration. Whenever it has this, its remaining blade will automatically be extended to either moderate or long length to compensate for not having a second blade. The shields purpose is to block attacks without having to stop attacks. It still has to use a manual block by covering its front or other areas to stop exceptionally powerful hunter attacks and cannon weaponry around the locale.
  • Shield Bash: Spargaron can also use its shield to launch direct attacks. It will swing its shield around and into hunters in a strong bash, knocking them away.
    • Shield Bash To Wide Slash: The Spargaron will raise a blade as it uses the Shield Bash with that respective arms, and then it will then rush towards the nearest hunter and do its Wide Slash on them.
  • Shield Counter Bash: When enough or a strong enough attack makes contact with the shield, Spargaron will hunch back and give the impression it was flinched. A clever hunter will notice the obvious preparation of a counterattack as its shield arm curves around the side close to the body. Spargaron will then do its Shield Bash on them with wider reach and more damage is dealt than the standard.
  • Shield Counter Slash: The Spargaron will move backwards after blocking enough damage, but instead of bashing the shield, it will ready its blade and strike hunters with a sweeping upwards slash.
  • Shield Switching Slash: To change back to having two blades, the Spargaron will switch back to the blade by using a slower Spin Slash with that arm, folding the plates back to normal position while extending the blade back in its moderate length form.
  • Headbutt Counterattack: If hunters flinch its head, it occasionally will jolt backwards and jolt forwards to deliver an aimed headbutt.
  • Arm Shove Counterattack: If the front body is flinched, it occasionally will cross both arms and shove hunters away from it.
  • Defensive Kick: Should hunters attempt to attack its legs or front body while it does a side attack, the Spargaron retaliates afterwards by kicking out the two legs of the side facing the hunter, knocking them away if they hit. If other hunters attack its other legs or its opposite side during this, it will be knocked off balance and fall down for three seconds.
  • Arm Tackle: Spargaron twists to the side to have its arm facing the hunter and begins walking towards them fast before jolting the arm into them with a short ranged hop, striking them with the plating on them.
    • Tackle And Stab: Spargaron shakes its blade up for the Arm Tackle and does the attack, takes a step backwards and does a curved stab forward where the tackle was aimed.
    • Tackle And Slash: Spargaron makes a slight swish of the blade before doing its Arm Tackle, then slashing the blade in a diagonal arc where the tackle happened.
    • Tackle And Punch: If there is no blade, the Spargaron can use an Arm Tackle, then punch down at the hunter.
  • Unarmed Punch: If unarmed, the Spargaron will attack using unarmed strikes. Spargaron in the most basic form of this combat will turn towards a hunter, wind up a pincer and throw a punch at them. Spargaron may also walk towards a hunter during this.
  • Unarmed Double Punch: If both blades are disarmed then this attack becomes available. Spargaron swings both pincers closed in a fist like form to the side and then quickly turns at the nearest hunter and lashes both pincers out at them.
  • Unarmed Sweep: Spargaron swings to the side with the opposite facing arm in a guard position. It will then without much warning sweep that arm around in a violent lash.
  • Bash And Sweep: The Spargaron will slam the plates of one arm in an almost side tackle like style similar to the Extreme(Tempered) Behemoth and then use the other arm to do a sweep forward and across.
  • Unarmed Upperpunch: Spargaron glares at a hunter and on preparing a pincer makes a sudden dash for them. It almost appears to freeze as it reaches them, but quickly makes its move by making a vicious punch swinging upwards at the hunters head.
    • Follow-up Unarmed Upperpunch: Often done if enraged but sometimes done in its normal state, the Spargaron will follow up the initial attack by striking with the second pincer, which will upswing hunters.
  • Unarmed Downpunch: The Spargaron will raise up a pincer while leaning to the side, make an aimed jump and slam its pincer down like a fist.
  • Follow-up Unarmed Downpunch: Often done if enraged but sometimes done in its normal state, the Spargaron will follow up the initial attack by taking another step at hunters and striking with the other pincer.
  • Heavy Carapaceon Jump: With both blades disarmed the Spargaron may choose to use the Carapaceon jump attack utilised by the Taurs. It takes longer to build up, but after jumping up, it tracks hunters and comes down on them with speed thanks to the weight of its Ocecet Crystal armour. The impact sends hunters flying away and causes a standard level quake around the landing point.

Enraged Only[]

  • Heavy Stab: With a blade in long length form, it will draw itself backwards with two hops and then rush a hunter and strike its blade right forward at them using great force. Hunters directly hit are sent flying away and are inflicted with Bleeding.
  • Dual Stab: The Spargaron draws both blades back and rams them into a hunter in a lunge.
  • Four Slashes: Spargaron turns around sharply and begins to slash its blades one after the other at the hunter in wide swings.
    • Four Slashes Finisher: Sometimes when the Spargaron does its Four Slashes, it may delay the fourth slash. If it does so, it does a finisher by doing a crossed slash at them.
  • Endless Stabbing: Only able to be done when Spargaron's blades are at dagger length (short form). Enraged, the Spargaron shakes its arms in the air and braces its blades, then beginning its attack. The angry Spargaron stabs madly at anything it can reach and see in its sights, rapidly piercing the blades down in endless jabs. After a few seconds of this it slams both blades down in front of it as a finisher. Hunters can easily become overwhelmed and heavily damaged as the are not knocked away from any of the stabs other than the finisher.
  • Razor Stabbing: Spargaron lifts itself up its two blades and repeatedly jabs them forward as it walks towards hunters in a similar manner to Rustrazor Ceanataur.
  • Stabbing To A Slashing: The Spargaron will stab forward with a blade while walking towards a hunter, then repeats with the other blade and then combos both blades together as a Spin Slash.
    • Stab To A Slash To A Chop: With a flick of its arm it does a stab at a hunter, then transitions into a Spin Slash with that same blade. The Spargaron then suddenly jumps upwards and preforms its Jumping Cross Chop. A more common combo of Spargaron.
  • Jumping Downswipe: The Spargaron will jump backwards and swipe out its two blades downwards, hitting anything below it in that area.
  • Spin and Heavy Slash: The Spargaron shifts its selected arm having a blade that is in long range form to the side and does a wider ranged Spin Slash. After the blades stab it skids a little before throwing itself up and slamming down onto a hunter with a more acrobatic Heavy Slash.
    • Evasion Hop Downswipe Counter: As the Spargaron evades, it will use its downswipe attack in a turn, spinning it around before landing.
  • Dual Bladed Chop Counterattack: If hunters flinch Spargaron's front body when enraged, it will swap out its Arm Shove counter with this new one. The Spargaron rears backwards and brings down both its blades onto the hunter. If an arm has no blade active, the arm instead acts as a pincer-fist.
  • Kick And Sweep: Unarmed, the Spargaron will do a Defensive Kick and then do a sweep of one of its arms, this time in a spin.
  • Punching Out Pincers: The Spargaron rushes quickly at a hunter with a threatening glare. Once it reaches them, it will deliver two sweeping uppercuts using the pincers one after the other. They are aimed at the face height of the hunter, and can easily knock them Stunned as they don't knock the hunter away. If they are Stunned or if they are still next to it, the Spargaron sends them flying away with high damage with a finishing double clawed punch.
  • Ballista Deflect: Hunters must be careful not to shoot Ballista shots at the Spargaron when it is facing them in this enraged state or in the second phase as now the Carapaceon Of Battle will deflect them away during swiping attacks. If it is blocking or walking, the Spargaron will actually swat the shot right back at the hunter and damage them.
  • Double Heavy Slash: As a start up, the Spargaron straightens out its arms and spins around, tripping up hunters and doing moderate damage. The Spargaron then throws itself up and at hunters, doing one Heavy Slash with one blade, then using its weight and power to fling itself around and does another Heavy Slash with the other blade.
  • Energy Wind Sphere: The Spargaron will raise itself up and begin generating wind around its head. A gust of wind brushes through a random hunter, triggering the camera of that hunter to zoom out and focus on the Spargaron. The hunter is put in the sights of the Spargaron, whose eyes fixate on them as the helmets plating opens up to reveal its mouth. The winds all storm around the mouth upon its appearance, with the wind strangely having some appearance resemblance to thunder at the corners of the gathering. Despite all the detail, the attack is prepared remarkably fast and soon the Spargaron shoots the ball of energised wind at the target hunter. The Energy Wind Sphere has almost lock on tracking, so evasion isn't a viable option. If the hunter tries to block it, they will fail without a high Guard Up skill. If they panic dive, the wind still bursts on the ground and hits them on the floor. There is only one way to directly defend against this attack, deflect it. Hunters will notice that right before Spargaron shoots its Energy Wind Sphere, their weapon will emit a glow, giving a hint of what they have to do. In order to win against this seemingly unavoidable attack, hunters must engage in what has been nicked "Dead Man's Volley" against the Spargaron. They must attack right before the energy ball reaches them to send it back at the Spargaron. The first time, the Spargaron desperately blocks the Energy Wind Sphere, leaving it open for hunters to attack it. Onwards however, Spargaron will bat the energy ball back at the hunter with its blades and hunters must continue this game, the countering getting faster until the Spargaron is unable to react in time and is hit by the Energy Wind Sphere and is knocked backwards and is left defenceless for five seconds. Hunters must also be careful not to abuse this, as each time they do this, the amount of counters needed to outdo the Spargaron increases, eventually reaching the point where heavy weapons won't be able to win under normal circumstances. In the case hunters are hit, normal Energy Wind Spheres uncountered will upswing the hunter and give them Windblight with high damage. Hunters who fail to win against the Spargaron after countering will find that the attack now sends them flying, does very high damage and Windblight. There is also a special mechanic to this as well. If hunters use a Light element weapon to hit the Energy Wind Sphere, the energies of the light may purify the Spargaron's own energies inside the ball. If the Spargaron is hit by this, the monster will emit a scream as the Light powers flare and surge around the Ocecet Crystal Armour, weakening it significantly and makes the Spargaron collapse down in pain having taken high damage from the burning, leaving it open for eight seconds.
  • Energy Wind Sphere Bombardment: After doing enough Energy Wind Sphere attacks regardless if it succeeded or has them deflected back, it will do the ultimate attack of this phase. Spargaron opens up its mouth guard and makes a yell to the crystals above. Spargaron then extends both blades to long length form and curls them up too defend itself, as large waves of winds rush towards the Spargaron's head. For 8 seconds the unique energised wind will twirl around Spargaron's body and form into an increasingly enlarging Energy Wind Sphere. Hunters are able to stop this by flinching it, but this is incredibly difficult due to Wind Pressure and the blocking blades. If hunters succeed, the Spargaron loses balance and tosses a near useless Energy Wind Sphere that still does Windblight, but does quarter of the damage of the original and disintegrates instantly on impact on anything, including a hunter attack. Spargaron will also fall on its back and be left vulnerable for 8 seconds. Upon the completion of this Giant Energy Wind Sphere, Spargaron will pick a hunter like last time, brace itself up to use the attack and fire it with a loud yell. The sphere consists of many smaller spheres rotating around a main chaotic one, all homing in on the hunter. In order to counter this, the hunter must use the strongest attack of their weapon to send all of them back at the Spargaron. If hunters use a normal attack, they only deflect one sphere away. If hunters are hit by this one head on, they take massive damage and Severe Windblight or are simply one shot without proper defence. If the attack hits at an angle, several of the Wind Energy Spheres will burst loose and impact around the zone. If hunters manage to send the attack back at Spargaron, it will be impossible for it to deflect or block it, taking large damage and being knocked off its feet and to the ground on its back for ten seconds. Hunters with Light Element weapons will have the wind energy of this attack also purified like with the normal Energy Wind Sphere. If this happens, the Spargaron makes a screech and attempts in vain to deflect the attack back, but is hit and engulfed by the light energy, sending it screaming into the air and falling down in a hard crash. The way it lands exposes its weakest points the clearest and it will remain there for 15 seconds before slowly recovering. Spargaron takes 10% health loss from this and its Ocecet Armour Pieces are weakened. If two of these attacks are countered with Light element attacks that purify the winds, it will automatically knock Spargaron to 50% health and damage all of its Ocecet Armour pieces, sending it to Phase Two.

Phase Two Cutscene[]

When Spargaron reaches 50% health or all its Ocecet Armour Pieces are damaged, the next phase in the battle begins with this cutscene.

In the finishing hit, the mouth-guard and pieces of Ocecet Armour shatter like glass as Spargaron emits a long scream. It stammers and then falls down in the centre of the area. The Spargaron slowly manages to get back onto its feet, breathing heavily. Hunters walk with weapons draw towards it, believing the monster is unable to battle no further. The Spargaron leans downwards and examines its armour, it has been wrecked by the hunters.

Outside, the storm has fully set it, lighting strikes the layer of Ocecet Crystals above the ravine containing the Wakening Sollow and a huge wave crashes into, and through. A large crystal is broken loose by the wave, smashing into the Spargaron and forces hunters away from it. A heavy wind blasts from the shattering of the crystal, shaking the rocks around the area and causes several to crack and fall. Water starts to leak in as hunters look to see the Spargaron concealed in the energised wind, appearing like smoke. They see its eyes turn from orange to red and begin to hear a growing growl. Orange shines begin to illuminate off the Spargaron's further damaged armour, as it begins to rise up shaking in rage. The wind suddenly surges into the Spargaron as it points its head at the ceiling as it looks at it with a fixed gaze. And after the last wave has flown into the Spargaron, its growl transitions into a shout increasing in volume. A great low pitched sound merges with the Spargaron's shout, and hunters take that and the winds cloak around it to find cover. One last pulse of wind rushes into its head and then, the Spargaron emits a massive blast of wind from its maw with Zenith level roar pressure, engulfing the area in sound and gust. With that, the Spargaron seemingly shatters into dust as the wind blinds the hunters. The wind burst reaches the ceiling and as they were nothing, destroys the Ocecet Crystal layer completely. The power of it is so great, the very rocks that the crystals stuck into are either cracked or blown apart by the force. The wind from all the crystals shattering continues the blast into a major shockwave, raging through the Spotted Coast's two regions and rushing onto land and continuing to travel for a few more kilometres before finally dying out. The monsters of the locale are thrown out by the winds push, some killed, and the remaining all flee.

As the wind blast ends, hunters frantically dodge the shards of Ocecet Crystals and rocks falling down from the sky. A final rush of wind travelling back into the area sends all fragments into the depths below. As hunters look, they begin to be drenched in rain as there is no longer any ceiling to shield them. Soon, the coast's waters begin to flow into the area in large waterfalls, pushing away the dust around the air. The lead hunter looks, and notices a thing in the rock wall facing them down. There lies one final Ocecet Crystal, cracked into an intimidating serrated shape and one it, a black figure with orange oriental patterns. As all the hunters take a closer look, two arms extend, and two Ocecet Crystals, perfectly formed into swords spin and click into position on the arms as two blades on the arms shift backwards and out of sight, not being needed anymore. The top portion of the Ocecet Crystal breaks off as two red glowing eyes become visible. The crystal then lowers down and twists. And with that cut the figure shows itself as Spargaron, sliding to the edge and spinning right around to face the hunters, producing a frightening yell enough to flinch all hunters in the area. Right as the crystals breaks off the wall, the Spargaron throws its arms to the sides in perfect symmetry and makes a huge leap off it. The crystal completely shatters into small fragments the moment it leaps, showing how powerful it is. And with that, the hunters watch as the cutscene transitions into Spargaron almost gliding onto the north facing edge of the area with its leap. And they must be ready, as soon as it lands, the battle they will face shall make the previous phase look like nothing.

Phase Two Attacks And Abilities[]

Now that its Ocecet Crystal Armour has been destroyed, the cloak now protects the exoskeleton of the Spargaron. Although its protective armour that weakened attacks that it failed to block or parry is gone, it in turn is now almost completely different in movement thanks to it losing the weight of the armour, gaining much more dexterity in the speed of its attacks and countering. A lot of its old attacks in Phase 1 are preformed quicker and lose most of their build up.

It loses its Wind Sphere Attacks and the Heavy Carapaceon Jump in this phase, and a lot of its basic attacks are switched out for its more deadly new ones.

  • Evasion Leap: Replacing the Evasion Hop in the second phase the Evasion Leap has Spargaron acrobatically leap high into the air to avoid an attack, either backflipping or spinning around during this. Spargaron also always faces a hunter after landing.
  • Back Block: Now, not even its back can be attacked without problem. In this case the Spargaron twists its arms around and uses its swords length to cover its back and rear from attack.
  • Full Body Block: If attacks bombard it from all directions, the Spargaron can curl itself up and wrap around its arms and swords to block all attacks for one second.
  • Sword Loss: If hunters do enough damage to the pincer or sword, that arms Ocecet Sword will be disarmed from the Spargaron's arm and fly across the area, eventually piercing into the ground. Hunters can actually be hurt by the sword as it flies. The Spargaron will have to resort to reusing its blade for that arm until enough time passes. After a time threshold, Spargaron will summon it back with a wind gust and rearm itself with the sword.
  • Speedy Running: Now that it is not weighted down by its Ocecet armour, the Spargaron can now run towards hunters with great speed to reach up to them. The way it runs is by putting its head forward, holding its swords behind it with its arms outstretched also bending backwards. Once it reaches a hunter it immediately transitions into an attack.
  • Sword Counterattack: If hunters hit its swords too much, the Spargaron will simply swipe at them hard and send them flying away.
  • Evasive Swipe: Done while running. Speeding towards the hunter, the Spargaron turns at them in an arc and slides, giving them a circular slash from the side and rear.
  • Sword Combo Dance: Spinning its swords around once, it first makes three Forward Slashes with each coming with a dash at hunters and then does a Spin Slash two times for each sword. Then it begins spinning around its swords and randomly slashing down at hunters, then doing stabs that come with hops. Spargaron then slashes in a circle with three spins and then jumps up and then does a wide reaching Outwards Slash as it lands. Spargaron spins its swords once more to finish the attack.
  • Leaping Downslash: Spargaron puts its swords close to each other and leaps into the air at hunters descending down at them with arms outstretched. Once it reaches ground level, Spargaron swiftly brings its swords down onto the hunter in a downwards slash.
  • Aerial Downstab: The Spargaron will leap high into the air and flip once, re-positioning its swords downwards during it. During the leap it homes in on the closest hunter to prevent easy evasion. Without any other build up it dives sharply down, bringing the Ocecet swords/blades directly down onto the hunter for huge damage and will send them flying backwards. It will also always cause Bleeding. If the Spargaron hits the hunter via its body, they still take moderate damage, but do not suffer Bleeding or sent flying.
    • Evasion Leap Downstab: While in the highest point in the air, the Spargaron will turn sharply towards a hunter and thrust downwards at them into a Downstab.
  • Forward Slash-Spin Slash-Jumping Downswipe: A multi attack combo. The Spargaron first jumps into a Forward Slash, then does a Spin Slash with accuracy and then hurls itself up in a skyward roll and does a Jumping Downswipe and lands back in front of the hunter.
  • Three Slashes One Spin: Spargaron will do three slashes from the Four Slashes attack, but it will suddenly step back and do a Spin Slash as the fourth attack.
  • Heavy Chop: Spargaron walks up to a hunter and does a built up and much more damaging variant of the Forward Chop by slamming the sword down with force. Has a significant Bleeding chance.
  • Dual Heavy Slash: Both arms brace back as Spargaron quickly walks backwards from a hunter while keeping in sight of them. After the walking stops, it leaps and spins around once, and brings down the killer power of both its swords at once on landing. The combined force of both its swords doing the Heavy Slash creates a larger quake radius and of course does huge damage to hunters, sends them flying and gives them Bleeding.
  • Shield Block And Upperslash: With one sword and a shield the Spargaron blocks an attack, this time spinning around with quick steps and retaliating with an upperslash. Will upswing hunters.
  • Leaping Attack Combo: Spargaron will hop on the spot and the bend down and leap high into the air. It descends on hunters and does a Jumping Cross Chop, but to hunters surprise it immediately jumps back into the air. Next, it will do a Jumping Downswipe and launch itself back up and then do an Aerial Downslash. Finally, it leaps back up a final time with a yell and does an Aerial Downstab. The Aerial Downstab of this combo has a small standard quake effect around it.
  • Backstab: The Spargaron will prepare a Heavy Stab attack, but then suddenly jump over the hunter and land facing behind them. Upon landing, the Spargaron does the stab, having the same effect as the normal Heavy Stab attack.
  • Hunter Was Kicked by Spargaron: The Spargaron twists around and puts both legs on one side of its body together. The attack is slower preformed than the rest, but the Spargaron knows what it does as it launches a brutal kick that plants hunters on the floor in a pinned knockdown along with high damage. Hunters must watch out, as if hunters are near one of the waterfalls in the locale, which are a deadly stage hazard if not escaped from, the Spargaron will always try to kick them into one and gives them a difficult escape.
  • Ruthless Splitting Jump Slash: The Spargaron runs towards hunters while bending the legs and extending the arms backwards. Right as it reaches them it jumps up high. Spargaron spins around crazily, slashing its swords everywhere underneath it and leaving no spot unscathed. Spargaron lands with a sideways slide. Hunters can take comboed damage from this that can end them quickly if in the centre.
  • Undersweeping Upperslash: Spargaron makes a slide at hunters and sweeps its swords down at the ground and then swings them upwards with a spinning jump. If hunters are hit by the undersweep, they will be upswung if they are hit by the upperslash and receive Bleeding.
  • Ravaging Cutting Killing: This combo is often done to hunters with low health to guarantee them a faint. Spargaron growls at a hunter and holds its swords up and jumps towards them. It lands and slams both blades around the hunter to prevent them from running any further and then unexpectedly headbutts them. Spargaron then goes crazy, cutting up everything that lies in its range in a flurry of slashes and stabs, ending it all of with an Outwards Slash.
  • Pincer-grab Slash: Done if one of the swords is knocked out of the Spargaron's pincer and the blade is also disabled. The Spargaron opens a pincer and rushes at a hunter. If it hits them, Spargaron grabs them and spins them around in a violent circles before drawing out the sword in its other pincer and letting them go. The instant it lets go it slashes the hunter with the sword, doing heavy damage and sending them flying with Bleeding.
  • Unarmed Punching Rampage: The Spargaron twirls its pincers around in a fist shape and begins punching in all directions. It begins normally, but eventually gets faster and more complex the more it continues until it ends with a final double punch to the ground from the air.
  • Whirl Slash: The advanced version of the Twirl Slash. The Spargaron twists its swords, then arms then body around in one direction, takes a step back and then let rip with twirling slashes almost like a spinning top, going so fast Spargaron appears as a grey, black and orange blur for a moment. Spargaron slides to a halt as it regains balance. Hunters will be inflicted with Bleeding, take heavy damage and be upswung by this.
  • Whirl And Spin Slash: Using a Whirl Slash to close in, the Spargaron uses the opportunity to do a Spin Slash while hunters are left open from dodging the Whirl Slash.
    • Heavy Attack Combo: The Spargaron will first charge at hunters and do a Heavy Stab, then hop backwards and do a Whirl Slash and then launch itself upwards and preform a Aerial Downstab.
  • Executing Strikes: The Spargaron will first jump and use a charging tackle from an arm to knock hunters down. After they are recovering it uses an altered Heavy Chop to cause them Bleeding and likely Stun them, knocking them on their behinds instead of knocking them down again. Spargaron then twists around and does a Whirl Slash to finish them off. If hunters get caught in this combo, unless they have max health and high fully upgraded defence there is little chance at survival.
  • Full Concentration: Once Spargaron reaches 20% health, it will emit a scream that will require High Grade Earplugs to block and a burst of wind erupts from its body and swirls into its swords. From there on, the Spargaron will become fully concentrated on winning the battle, blocking, evading and countering any possible attack it can. Hunter's will have to become engaged as much as the Spargaron to have any chance of defeating it. The Spargaron will also gain some new attacks as well, listed below.
  • Finishing Chop: Hunters must beware not to be knocked down for too long or end up Stunned as the Spargaron will no longer treat them normally, and instead employ this attack. The Spargaron will leap to beside the hunter affected and look down upon them. It then steps backwards and begins to slowly build up power in one of its arms, readying a precise and deadly strike. It will gradually raise its sword upwards until it is pointed behind it, and at that point it emits a yell. The Spargaron will bring the sword down onto the hunter in a quick and immensely powerful chop that smashes through the ground on impact, as if the strike had gone right through them. A normal hunter hit by this will take major damage, be sent flying and be inflicted by Bleeding. If a hunter is lying down from a knockdown or is Stunned, this attack is guarantied to cause a faint, regardless of health or defence. This is indicated clearly by a bright white flash appearing in a split-second where the attack hit the hunter that blurs the vision around it. The only way to survive under those circumstances is to have either Felyne Moxie or the Guts skill.
  • Jumping Whirl Slash: Occasionally whenever the Spargaron leaps to reach a hunter, it may turn its blades upwards and look downwards on them. If it does this, the Spargaron will instantly do a Whirl Slash upon landing without the build up, travelling further and requiring no slide to recover. Spargaron instead of ending the Whirl Slash the usual way, just resumes attacking as normal.
  • The Wind's Piercing Spear: Spargaron will raise up a sword, wind rushing around it. Spargaron then double flips and kicks back any in its way before landing and throwing that sword's arm backwards. It will then throw its sword arm forward and by doing so, fires a spear shaped wind blast at hunters, upswinging them and doing Windblight and might also do Bleeding. Hunters hit by the sword itself are sent flying and are inflicted with Bleeding.
  • Double Wind Slash Tearing: Spargaron first does several spinning slashes in clockwise and anticlockwise fashion, generating up the wind energies from within the swords. Swirling with wind energy, Spargaron uses the swords in a diagonal and vertical spinning slashes while jumping backwards. These two slashes create wind blades like Silverwind Nargacuga that will upswing, cause Windblight and may also cause Bleeding.
  • The Air's Slicing Wind: With a large leap into the air it begins spinning like a blur until wind begins surrounding it. Spargaron then flips over and does an Outwards Slash like movement, firing many blade-like wind projectiles at the hunters and lands down. Hunters can get Windblight and Bleeding from this.
  • Wind Shears To The Higher Place: Spargaron bends down and spins, then doing an inwards slashing movement that flings several large wind blades into the air to hit jumping hunters. Hunters hit are upswung and suffer Windblight and possible Bleeding.
  • Tornado Spinner: The most deadly form of spinning slash attacks. Spargaron jumps and dashes backwards from a hunter and coils itself up. After wind gathers around itself it goes in twirling around exactly like a spinning top, with both swords locked together and the legs controlling its movement. It will make four homing passes at hunters before it breaks out of its attack with a leap. If hunters manage hit its legs enough, it falls over like Duramboros and is vulnerable for five seconds. Hunters stuck by this spinning slasher take heavy damage, are sent flying, and are inflicted with Windblight and Bleeding.
  • Wind Awoken Endslash: The Spargaron's ultimate attack. First, the Spargaron will curl itself up, with the curved arms making it look like a spiral. Wind energy begins to swirl around its whole body like in its cutscene. Eventually as the wind fully cloaks it, the Spargaron shows its head and turns sharply at hunters two times. And with that, the Spargaron flies towards hunters like a rocket. It begins doing its Tornado Spinner but immediately goes upwards it the air diagonally with it in a dramatic fashion. It goes airborne and emits a loud yell as the wind engulfs its swords and spears down towards hunters. The Spargaron brings both swords down with all its power in both its physical form and its wind elemental powers. In one strike, a massive wind blast erupts in a forwards wave of pure destruction in all in front of the Spargaron's sights. Any hunter hit in this strike is defeated instantly, they are catapulted off into the distant dark depths and faint after completely going out of view. If hunters are hit by the upwards Tornado Spinner, they are hit with the same effect as that attack. Should hunters use Light element weapons on it during this attack, the Spargaron suffers the same purifying burning like it does in the Wind Energy Sphere Bombardment, taking huge damage and being left vulnerable for 14 seconds.

Death Scene[]

Upon the killing blow, the Spargaron does not let out a drawn out scream, but simply a short agonised yell. It walks slowly to the areas centre and slowly rises up. This time, there is nothing left for the Spargaron to use. So, it just emits one last long groan while looking up at the stormy sky. Its arms fall to the sides, but still have stiffness to them and its legs still remain in a Carapaceon stance. Spargaron bends down onto its rear but does not fall down and its eyes lose colour. Finally, as if it has acknowledged its defeat, its eyes, then head droop downwards to face the floor alongside its swords becoming silent. The glow of its robes becomes only its true colours and all the wind energy that was a few moments ago raging like the storm outside has now completely faded. And with one final hiss from wind energy dying away, the Spargaron stands, but is now dead.

After the hunters leave with their carves many of the stone borders around the area gave way in a major collapse, letting the waters surge into the area and reclaim the Wakening Sollow. In the process, the tower collapses, leaving the now actually statue-like Spargaron to sink deep into the unmovable rubble, and be buried forever.

Event: Deadly Dance Of The Slicing Wind, Unique Features[]

Intro Cutscene[]

Glaze From The Furious Wind Emperor: Wakening Sollow: Area 1: Deadly Dance Of The Slicing Wind

The winds blow around the Wakening Sollow, the coast's water pouring down into its depths. All seems at ease, except for one oddity. One spot up above the tower has a large diverging surge of wind that deflects all water away. Two shines appear inside the gust, and then swing outwards. Suddenly, the wind blasts up the windy gust above the area, revealing the Spargaron. With one blow it shatters the crystal pillar and spins up a whirlwind to hold the pieces around it, the monster emitting a short roar as the fight begins immediately.

New Attacks[]

  • A Striking Entrance: Right as the fight begins the Spargaron rains down the crystal pillar's shards down upon the area in rapid succession using swings of its swords. The crystals come in fast and are plentiful, placing hunters into the action instantly. Each shard does quite a bit of damage and they do not place the hunter in a heavy knockdown, so if not careful they can combo them to zero health in seconds. After around six seconds the Spargaron descends and strikes down at the north-most point of the area, utilising the remaining shards to create three lines of shards, one along the center, and two more to the left and right of it. Spargaron then creates a final wind gust to create a burst of wind from the crystal shard lines, blasting hunters on them up into the air with high damage and Windblight. It will then land in the center of the area and begin fighting. This attack is only used and always used at the beginning of the hunt.
  • Rain Of Shards: The Spargaron will send a gust of wind from one of its swords above a hunter. Moments later crystal shards rain down on them and take health away with each hit.
  • Backwards Aerial Downstab: Spargaron will jump upwards as if it were to do an Aerial Downstab, only for its jump to go backwards. This is planned however, as the hunters behind it will get a painful truth when the Spargaron's flip turns it around and do its downstab at them instead. The damage and effects are exactly the same as the normal Aerial Downstab, being high damage and Bleeding.
  • Twirling Slasher Smash: The Spargaron will draw its two swords downwards on a backwards jump, then curling up. It then does several spins that slash around and around, occasionally going in an opposite direction. Once enough are done, it suddenly turns at a hunter and slams both swords at full length down upon them. The final slam inflicts Bleeding and causes high damage.
  • Sword Return: Whenever this Spargaron loses one of its swords, it will be for a short time. After just several seconds it will use the other sword to generate a powerful wind gust that draws its dropped sword back to it, grabbing it by reflex once at its pincer.

(New Full Concentration Attacks)

  • Triad Wind Blade: Spargaron spins round backwards and casts out three wide-blades in three rapid slashes. The first going horizontal, and the two others going vertical straight-wise and curved.
  • Gusting Counter: Attacking while Spargaron moves now gives a new counter. It will appear to "elbow" the attacks away from it, potentially sending bullets/arrows back at their casters then dashes towards the attacker. It then spin-slashes them away and resumes moving.
  • Breeze Spears: Should Spargaron jump while there is remnants of Wind floating in that place it'll jab twice into it if it can, sending two miniature Wind Spears at hunters.
  • Cyclone Windwave: A secondary ultimate attack used by the super version of the Spargaron. The Spargaron jumps to the side of hunters and appears to fold in its blades like its true ultimate attack, gathering in Wind. Instead of unleashing a Wind Awoken Endslash, the Carapaceon dashes in a tight arc around to the other side of a random hunter. Almost instantly it unleashes a huge wave of wind at that hunter, inflicting huge damage and sending anyone in its way flying away. While it doesn't cause a certain out-of-bounds faint like the ultimate, if hunters are too close to the areas edge they'll be flung off it and faint.

Ecological Information[]

Placement In Food Chain[]

Spargaron reigns at the very top of the food chain in the regions of the Spotted Coast.

Behaviour Towards Other Monsters[]

Although no other monsters can be in the Wakening Sollow, the Spargaron definitely has no tolerance for other predators, nor anything that it perceives looks ready to attack. Anything that looks aggressive to Spargaron or attempts to attack it are shown very little mercy other than how it will deal with them. Every battle that doesn't end in the rare scenario of the other monster fleeing will always result in death. Small monsters and those weak are simply assaulted with punches and kicks until they're broken, and the larger monsters are face swords that are capable of cutting from head to toe in a single slice.

Tracks[]

Spargaron doesn't leave any tracks in the area its fought in, but tracks of it have been found in research investigations in the Spotted Coast.

Specific Locale Interactions[]

Spargaron is able to utilise the Wakening Sollow's area in phase 2, wielding two large shards of Ocecet Crystals as swords and deliberating knocking hunters into the waterfalls.

Special Behaviours[]

Spargaron is able to block and evade direct attacks from hunters, as well as being able to counter them if enough attacks occur or it blocks/evades a powerful one.

Interactions With Other Monsters[]

None, Spargaron is unable to be fought outside of the Wakening Sollow, and thus cannot encounter any other monsters in a gameplay situation.

Interactions with The Frenzy/Hyper State/Apex/Tempered[]

Spargaron is immune to all kinds of abnormal states.

Ecology[]

Taxonomy[]

Spargaron is a Carapaceon that has no close relatives. There have been no confirmed sightings of another individual of its kind.

Habitat Range[]

The Spargaron's main habitat range is in the coasts, as proven by its appearance in the Spotted Coast. However, evidence as in its resistances to many elements suggests it is able to live across many environments, examples being jungles, mountains, and even polar zones. Due to the Wakening Sollow being surrounded by deep water and Spargaron having left it to kill proves that it is capable of living and travelling in seas and oceans. These seas are believed to be where Spargaron originally came from before coming to the Spotted Coast.

Ecological Niche[]

Spargaron without question automatically asserts itself as the apex predator in any ecosystem it could be in. In the Spotted Coast alone, it took out the like of the Lagiacrus, Plesioth, and the Quaiyoto with minimum effort required. With how the bodies of the monsters were slashed into pieces, wounds detailing how it only took one to three slashes to achieve them, the Spargaron likely killed them easily without suffering any damage itself. This slaughter alone places Spargaron among severe threat monsters and major Elder Dragons. With how lethal the weaponry of Spargaron is, it would have more than a fair chance fighting a common Elder Dragon like Kushala Daora and Aqura Jure. Even a Wiyska would have huge problems trying to trap and eat a Spargaron due to its speed, durability and the shear sharpness of its blades cutting through tar like it was water.

The only monsters that could potentially be equal to the Spargaron are monsters that also process similar mastery of combat and major threat Elder Dragons. And the very few monsters that could kill a Spargaron without much problem are the extreme threat 8★ monsters.

Biological Adaptations[]

The Spargaron have several differences that greatly separates it from the common Carapaceon monsters. Across its entire body is a fleshy cloak that is formed from the skins of monsters it has killed and from many different materials nearby. This cloak is not seen much however, as the Spargaron in the Wakened Sollow dons an armour made out of Ocecet Crystals and melded together by steel framing. Both arms of the Spargaron along with having the two layers of armour and cloaking, also grow thick organic thorn shaped plating. Along with their pincers with two digits, the plating can be manipulated into many positions. On the bases of the pincers are special, much sharper objects that look like plates, but are actually external bones, that are designed to fix together into a long blade with a simple arm movement. Together with plates they can form from simple daggers to a large sword. Combined with the arm strength and its capability of moving at great speed, the greatly sharp blades have the force to cut through almost all monster shells. Other plate positions can also turn them into a shield to go with a sword. The Spargaron also has a large body with powerful legs that too have the armour like the rest. The legs are strangely built compared to other Carapaceons, with joints that allow it to properly turn and walk in ways many wyverns do. Even without blades, the pincers bear hard knuckles for unarmed melee combat and for smaller prey that are unsuitable for slicing. In what is still hardly understood, the Spargaron also contains wind element powers that are emitted mostly by balls of almost solid wind that give the impression of a mysterious energy. It is speculated that the Ocecet Crystals store this wind energy inside their structure, and the Spargaron has learned to harness this process for itself. Should its crystal armour be sundered, the Spargaron will become much lighter in weight and is capable of wielding swords of Ocecet Crystals instead, which are extremely deadly due to their sharp edges and their endurance. At maximum force, there is next to nothing that these swords cannot cut through. When a monster dies to the Spargaron, it uses its otherwise covered fangs to gnarl and tear apart chunks of edible meat for its maw to keep its energy going.

Ecological Behaviour[]

Until the Spargaron senses anything that it thinks could attack it or feels the need to feed, it remains almost lifeless, moving across the sea or land slowly and resting for long periods of time. At the split of a second this peace will be obliterated once something displays any form of aggression towards the Spargaron. Without any second thought it will attack and kill that monster, and use anything on and in it that it can. If there is meat, it will eat it, if there are materials of armour, it will fix them to its armour to keep it in excellent condition.

The Spargaron are known for having an extreme bloodlust, meaning if angered or hungry, they never are satisfied with a single kill and will seek out and slaughter everything it can find in the proximity of the first kill. Due to its nigh unbeatable combat skills, a simple act of aggression can result in a major massacre in the locale. In some situations, this can severely disrupt or damage ecosystems as prey and predators die to the Spargaron in quick succession.

Spargaron Species History[]

Being not well documented in history means many factors and facts about the monsters history and evolution have gone unknown to the guild.

Spargaron is not just an individual monster, but a species. How there is only one that has been recorded in known history is due to what has happened to them. The Spargaron have existed in times long before The Ancient Civilisation came to be. In those times, they were nowhere near the awe-inspiring killers they are now, only around the size and danger of a Shogun Ceanataur. Due to little threat, they existed on the bottom of oceans and ate small prey. This peace would not last for the species. After a period of earthquakes and other climate changes began happening their habitat was changed to the point that there was little for them to eat anymore. Forced into more shallow waters, they quickly became prey for ancient species of monsters, several now extinct while others evolved. Then, they had very little to resist against them. They didn't have armour or efficient blades, and often, many died to one predator alone. This cycle continued on for centuries, with Spargaron numbers quickly depleting.

The turning point for the monsters came when the Great Dragon War broke out. Everything turned to complete hell for the Spargaron, as all monsters were at each others throats as well as the Ancients. After such long times of brutality, the Spargarons had grown more intelligent, and somewhat stronger. But now, they did something very few species did let alone Carapaceons, some decided to fight back against the onslaught. Originally not successful and a lot of deaths, it slowly began to work. The Spargaron started to move up the food chain. What once killed it, were being killed themselves by the Carapaceons. Although the species was still in decline, they were gaining a surviving chance. Eventually the Spargaron began to evolve as the worst years of the war came, developing parts meant exclusively for battle. Soon as the adaption for constant battle continued, the species began losing natural traits. The most drastic being that of breeding, which became very rarely done due to the immense danger that never ended. To defend themselves, the Spargaron began melding themselves armour from resources they could find nearby. And just like with the weaponry they evolved, armour became sometime that was natural to the species, soon even being born with some. The armoury merged with weaponry, and soon, the Spargaron had became a major predator in the seas. It, in some sort of karma for the predators, adapted the same behaviour they showed for the Spargaron of killing many at once by themselves. Due to the length the war lasted, the adapted feeling to kill became part of them like the rest of the evolution's. Spargaron had evolved from minor tier monsters to top tier predators, but at a great cost.

The Great Dragon War ended when the Fatalis species wiped out the Ancients major strongholds and killed everyone they found, and the survivors of the civilisation faded from existence. The Spargaron had been so focused on surviving and evolving to combat its predators and then its rivals, that it had foregone socialisation with others of their kind, and thus not bred. What was once a species in large numbers gathered together, has become a species that is completely isolated from their own kind, with so few remaining that the numbers rival that of rare Elder Dragons. Spargaron had became a species with violence ingrained into their consciousness; evolved to their perfection in combat. Even with the war over, they still retain the behaviour like in those times.

Like so, when people disrupted the feeding habitat of the only Spargaron identified in modern history, it massacred the fortress they occupied and killed some more in a nearby town, forcing a complete evacuation. Before it could finish eating and using the remains of the corpses and utilise the materials in the area, a sudden extreme storm struck the locale and sunk the entirety of the fortress and town. The town was completely destroyed and nothing remains of it below the now sea covered ground. Its defence, the fortress was mostly destroyed, but a portion of the bridge and the main tower survived, along with the Spargaron. As the Spargaron does not weaken with age like some Carapaceons, Mollusks, Celloids and Elder Dragons, it remained trapped by the walls of rock. It scavenged whatever it could that fell through the ravine to it, eating all without hesitation. In all of this, in an event of great luck for the Spargaron, it had fallen into a region containing many Ocecet Crystals, a scarcely found kind with a highly noted level of hardness and greatly sharp edges that also absorb in winds and make them into an energised form within. The Spargaron quickly learned to create an armour with these crystals, greatly boosting its already high defence and allowing it to use the wind energies stored inside. After some time with them, it learned it could hold crystals with the right shape like swords by holding them with its pincers and fixing plating onto them. Now with a new found usage of these crystals, it has nothing left to do, and thus went into a centuries long hibernation until the day came when it could leave. And in the modern era of this timeline it finally came. An earthquake, like one that began its evolution, forced the ravine from the sea and drained the waters within, awakening the Spargaron. Immediately upon readjusting itself from its sleep, it went out to the new locale, the Spotted Coast. After swimming to a near-by island it encountered monsters attracted to its presence. Without any warning, a Plesioth ran through the crowd of them and hipchecked towards it, knocking the monsters aside and closed in to the Spargaron. The Plesioth then lunged at the Spargaron's head with its many teeth, but the Spargaron was already prepared. And with one wide upslash, it slashes the Plesioth's head clean off its neck and bouncing behind the monsters. As they turn around in shock, the Spargaron extends its blades out, and emits a muffled roar, now filled with bloodlust to cure its long hunger. Without a single other monster displaying aggression to the Spargaron, it leaps into action and begins slashing and stabbing monsters apart, while using pounds to dispose of small prey. Within minutes the populated zone became a massacre, with only the two furthest monsters managing to escape. As hunters are sent to investigate along with researchers, the species became from legend to fact to the Hunter's Guild. With it being categorised in the same tier as severe threats as major Elder Dragons, they sent out elite hunters out to end the Spargaron's life before it could terrorise the world that evolved while it slept.

Both the Spargaron and hunters gave it their all, and despite thousands of years of evolution as a species, the Spargaron was slain after a savage battle, and the waves reclaimed the fortress once again thanks to its doing. The Guild is still on the lookout for any of the remaining Spargaron species, but as of now, there have been zero signs of any that exist in a significant radius proximity to hunting zones.

Trivia[]

  • Like Behemoth, it is recommended for a team of hunters to fight Spargaron because of its diligence in blocking and evading powerful attacks. Hunters can distract Spargaron, while others attack its blind spots.
  • Resistances or plenty of jerky items that cure or prevent Bleeding are essential for hunters to survive against a Spargaron due to its many blade attacks.
  • Its two armour sets reflect the differences Spargaron has in its two phases.
    • The Spargaron Ocecet Knight or simply Spargaron Knight is a slower and heavier build, but bears fantastic defence and endurance.
    • The Spargaron Emperor has much less defence, but it grants its wearing unmatched skills in weaponry like the Spargaron, gives them a much higher movement boost and the battle fury of the monster when attacking.
  • The "garon" suffix of the name was from researchers comparing the ferocity of the monster to that of outraged Fanged Beasts and Wyverns like the Midogaron and Odogaron.
    • To differentiate it from those two monsters, the pronunciation for its name was altered.
  • Spargaron was created as Carapaceons don't have a reputation for being dangerous in Canon and Fanon. Chaoarren wanted to make one that would go against that mindset.
  • Early on in the making of Spargaron, it was originally going to be possible to sever one of Spargaron's arms, forcing it to fight one handed with a permanently long blade.
    • This was scrapped in favour of it being able to be disarmed temporarily of its blades and swords from damage.
  • Spargaron's armour sets have many powerful skills because they were designed around World styled skill sets and made for end-game G-rank.
  • The main source of inspiration for Spargaron comes from The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker's incarnation of Ganondorf.
