Description

Ferrumos is a large flying wyvern that closely resembles Akantor, Ukanlos and Odibatorasu and possesses the same quadrupedal gait. The scales and shell of these monsters resemble raw iron in texture and hardness but are often a muddy brown of color due to the silt and sludge that sticks to these wyverns scales. The jaws of these flying wyverns greatly resembles those of real world spinosaurids and pliosaurs and the jaws contain multiple pairs of large conical teeth that give these wyverns a fearsome grin. The back of these wyverns possesses a large turtle-like shell that is covered in giant jagged scutes. The tail of Ferrumos ends in a moderate sized fluke that aides these wyverns in propelling themselves through water. The forelimbs of Ferrumos are similar in structure to those of its relatives Akantor and Ukanlos but unlike its kin it still possesses some semblance of wings although these wings are too small to be useful in flight.

Abilities

Like their close relative Akantor and Ukanlos these wyverns are extremely powerful thanks to their large builds and can have negative effects upon the ecosystems they inhabit. Ferrumos is capable of delivering fearsome blows with its heavily built forelimbs and paddled tail, these blows are capable of creating small tremors due to the weight and power behind the attacks and can send hunter flying with ease. Hunters must be wary of the devastatingly powerful body of Ferrumos as most attacks inflicted with them are capable of one shotting most hunters, fortunately the attacks of Ferrumos are heavily telegraphed and can be avoided with precise dodging. When enraged these flying wyverns are capable of firing powerful beams of water from their jaws. The water beams fired from Ferrumos is capable of transforming the terrain into a muddy mess that is capable of inflicting the muddy status upon hunters to impede their movements.

Field Guide Entry

Ferrumos
Ferrumos Icon by Jeremiah V10 A large bodied semi-aquatic wyvern covered in ironclad scales and a large jagged shell. These flying wyverns are known to inhabit deep lakes and coastal waters and occasionally come ashore to feed and nest. These monsters are capable of storing large quantities of boiling water within their bodies.

Rage and Tired States

  • Enraged: When enraged, these wyverns will begin to seep steam from their jaws and body. When in this state Ferrumos is capable of using water elemental attacks.
  • Fatigued: When fatigued, these wyverns will become sluggish and leave larger openings.

Habitat Range

Ferrumos are nomadic in nature, meaning they can be found just about anywhere though Ferrumos have primarily been found in areas with large bodies of water. One of the locales these rare flying wyverns have been found inhabiting is the Primeval Coastline. These wyverns have been known to occasionally be found inhabiting the deep ocean.

Ecological Niche

Similar to Akantor and Ukanlos, Ferrumos is the top predator in many environments it appears in and has very little to fear. Ferrumos is capable of preying upon any small monsters it comes across and is even capable of subduing other large monsters such as Royal Ludroth, Jyuratodus, Plesioth and Lagiacrus with ease thanks to its massive size and powerful jaws although usually Ferrumos go out to sea to feed rather than feed inland. The only threats to a full grown Ferrumos are other members of their own species and powerful equally rare monsters such as its distant relatives Ukanlos, Akantor and Odibatorasu as well as elder dragons such as Ceadeus and Nakarkos.

Biological Adaptations

Ferrumos possess slow metabolisms which allow them to go long periods of time between meals. They have evolved hard shells that grant them incredible durability and powerful jaws that allow them to crush the defenses of their prey items with ease. Their long paddle-like tails allow them to push through water with extreme ease and they possess unique water elemental sacs that give them the ability to fire boiling water from their jaws and steam from pores along their bodies.

Behavior

Ferrumos are extremely territorial and quickly become hostile towards anything that approaches them.

Social Behavior

Little is known of the social behavior of Ferrumos due to the elusive and aggressive nature of these flying wyverns.
