Aukadath is an unusual Fanged Wyvern that possesses a sickle-like beak and control over the Void element.

Physiology

Aukadath possesses the general stance of Fanged Wyverns such as Tobi-Kadachi and Odogaron, being slim and quadrupedal. Its skin is mainly dark grayish blue in color, as well as being covered in hair-like filaments of the same color. Its underside is covered in light grayish blue scales. An Aukadath's beak curves downward, forming a sickle-like shape. The head itself is white in coloration, and also possess piercing yellow eyes. A large, shield-like plate rests upon its shoulders, which possesses three grayish blue spikes near its base. Eight more of these spikes line its back, with six more lining the upper side and underside of the end of its tail. Six rigid quills line its forelimbs. Its front limbs possess three, pale digits, while its hindlimbs possess four digits of the same color.

Placement in Food Chain

Aukadath places itself at the top of the food chain, facing competition from monsters of similar tier and only really being threatened by Elder Dragons and Elder Dragon-level Monsters.

Aukadath is surprisingly passive towards other monsters, but will attack violently if threatened or the monster in question is of a lower tier than it.

Abilities

Aukadath is an agile and vicious hunter, mainly using its blade-like beak to attack. In addition, it is able to spit out an odd, black bubbling fluid that both lowers elemental resistance and inflicts Voidblight. This fluid is stored in a "Voidfluid Sac" located in its gullet.

Aukadath lacks a normal enraged state and instead possesses an "Overflowing State", where Aukadath's Voidfluid Sac releases a large amount of Voidfluid, the liquid overflowing from the monsters mouth. In this state, its Voidblight-based attacks are enhanced.

The Reaper Cometh

• Location: Marshlands, Area 3
• Synopsis: The hunter enters area 4, on high alert. Their target is a monster known as Aukadath, a Fanged Wyvern with a scythe-like beak. The hunter eventually hears something coming from their left, and they look in its direction. The source is a puddle of a black, bubbling liquid. The hunter goes to investigate, only to notice another puddle. A look around reveals more and more puddles. The hunter stands there, confused, as a large figure slowly sneaks up behind them. The creature lifts its head up as the hunter looks behind them. A hiss emanates from the beast mouth before it slams its head down, narrowly missing the hunter as they dodge. The hunter now gets a better look at the monster as it pulls its beak out the ground; its their target, Aukadath. Aukadath glares at the hunter as they brace themselves. The Fanged Wyvern turns to the hunter and lets out a ghastly, cackle-like screech, marking the start of the hunt.

Habitat Range

Aukadath mainly inhabits forested locales such as the Shrine Ruins, Ancient Forest, and the Flooded Forest, as well as areas with large cave systems, such as the Rotten Vale, Sunken Hollow, and the caverns of the Marshlands.

Ecological Niche

Aukadath ranks high on the food chain, preying on small monsters such as Aptonoth, Bombadgy, and Kelbi. Despite this, it does occasionally eat Obscurity Berries to fuel its Voidfluid attacks, making the monster omnivorous. It faces competition from other apex predators such as Rathalos, Nargacuga, and Odogaron, and it often avoids confrontation with monsters like Rajang, Bazelgeuse and Fulhemus.

Biological Adaptations

Aukadath's most striking physiological feature is its scythe-like beak. It is designed to puncture and slice prey, making it a very effective weapon. In addition, Aukadath possesses a "Voidfluid Sac" located in its gullet. This sac holds a dark liquid made of hydrocarbons and mucus called "Voidfluid". Alongside being imbued with the Void Element, Voidfluid lowers the elemental resistance of a target. The Fanged Wyvern's eyes are sensitive to dim light, giving it good night vision.

Interestingly, Aukadath lacks a normal enraged state. Rather, the Fanged Wyvern possesses what some call an "Overflowing State". When under extreme stress, Aukadath secretes a large amount of adrenaline, which causes its Voidfluid Sac to overflow, large amounts of the dark fluid pouring from its mouth. During this state, Aukadath possesses greater control over the dark liquid, able to release it in beams. It can, however, be seen seemingly gagging before releasing these beams. Perhaps the Overflowing State is unpleasant for it to experience.

Behavior

Aukadath is a remarkably persistent ambush predator, able to stalk its prey for up to five days before killing it off. During the breeding season, male Aukadath compete in battle in order to win the favor of a female. The males strike each other with their beaks before one of them backs down. A female Aukadath lays up to 1-6 eggs, only two of which will typically survive. After they hatch, the mother will take care of the young for 23-30 days before the young leave the nest.

Calm 

• Roar: Aukadath roars in a similar fashion to Odogaron, requiring earplugs to block.
• Bite: Aukadath rears back, before biting at a nearby hunter, moving slightly forward. Inflicts Voidblight and Resistance Down when in the Overflowing State.
• Rapid Bite: Aukadath rears back before, stepping forward three times, biting each time it does so. Inflicts Voidblight and Resistance Down when in the Overflowing State.
• Beak Swipe: Aukadath hisses before swinging its head from either left to right or right to left in an attempt to gash the hunter.
• Beak Slam: Aukadath rears up on its hindlimbs before falling back on all fours and slamming its beak into the ground with great force. After a bit of struggling, it manages to uproot its beak.
• Beak Upswing: Aukadath hisses and then lunges forwards, swinging its beak upwards when it lands.
• Claw Swipe: Aukadath rears one of its front claws back, before swiping it at a nearby hunter.
• Tail Swipe: Aukadath steps back before swinging its tail at a nearby hunter.
• Hip Check: Aukadath will shift its body to the side before quickly doing a hip check.
• Voidfluid Blast: Aukadath steps back and makes a gurgling sound before spitting a large glob of Voidfluid at a hunter. Inflicts Voidblight and Resistance Down.
• Voidfluid Double Blast: Aukadath steps back and makes a gurgling sound before spitting three large globs of Voidfluid at a hunter, one at a time. Inflicts Voidblight and Resistance Down.

Overflowing State

• Overflowing Screech: Upon reaching the Overflowing State, Aukadath will begin making raspy hissing noises as Voidfluid begins pouring from its lower jaw. It will then rear up on its hindlimbs and let out a ghastly screech.
• Voidfluid Beam: Aukadath begins gagging, before shooting a beam of Voidfluid at a hunter. Inflicts Voidblight and Resistance Down.
• Turning Voidfluid Beam: Aukadath begins gagging, before shooting a beam of Voidfluid from either left to right or right to left. Inflicts Voidblight and Resistance Down.
• Voidfluid Bomb: Aukadath begins gagging, before shooting a beam of Voidfluid at the ground, which forms a bubbling puddle that gets progressively larger before bursting. Inflicts Voidblight and Resistance Down.
• Voidlfuid Cluster: Aukadath begins gagging before spitting up to five large globs of Voidfluid at the same time in front of it. Inflicts Voidblight and Resistance Down.
• Voidfluid Beam Spam: Aukadath rears onto its hindlimbs and begins excessively gagging. It then begins shooting up to five beams of Voidfluid in random directions before going back on all fours and continuing the fight as normal. Inflicts Voidblight and Resistance Down.

Breakable Parts

• Head: Aukadath's head will be scarred, with one scar covering its right eye, leaving it closed.
• Front Limbs: Either of Aukadath's front limbs will be scarred, and the claws will be chipped.

With Great Izuchi

Turf War (Win)

The two monsters begin to size each other up, circling each other before the Great Izuchi leaps into the air and attempts to slam its tail into the Aukadath's head. The Fanged Wyvern dodges, before lunging back at the Bird Wyvern and pinning it down. It then clamps its jaws around the Great Izuchi's neck and lifts it up, only to turn around and slam it back onto the ground. The Aukadath then tosses the Great Izuchi away, leaving it stunned and ending the Turf War.

With Nerscylla

Turf War (Win)

The two monsters screech at each other before Nerscylla shoots a web at Aukadath, clamping its mouth shut. The Nerscylla then jumps onto the Fanged Wyvern's back, slashing its claws at it wildly. The Aukadath manages to shake the Temnoceran off before swinging its beak at its face, toppling the arachnid and freeing its mouth of the webs in the process. The Fanged Wyvern lunges at the downed Nerscylla, mauling it before pushing it away, ending the Turf War.

With Odogaron

Turf War (Draw)

The two Fanged Wyverns roar, and immediately lunge at each other, colliding midair and slamming down onto the ground. The Aukadath initially gets the upper hand, pinning the Odogaron down and biting its neck. It prepares to slam its beak into the Cruel Claw Wyvern's head, only for it to slip out of the grasp, leaving the Aukadath's beak lodged in the ground. The Odogaron takes this opportunity to topple the opposing Fanged Wyvern and begins viciously mauling it, attack with a flurry of bites and claw swipes. Just when the Aukadath seems to have lost, it begins gagging as Voidfluid pours from its lower jaw. It then unleashes a powerful beam of the liquid aimed directly at the Odogaron's face, the force of which causes it to fall back. The Aukadath gets back up and the Fanged Wyverns once again roar at each other, finishing the Turf War and leaving the Aukadath in its Overflowing State and the Odogaron in its Enraged State.
