The Coal Khezu is a subspecies of Khezu that resides deep inside of volcanic caves. Using its dark hide and the darkness of the caves, it uses the element of surprise quite well.

Coal Khezu
	Subspecies of Khezu that reside deep within volcanic caves. They increase their body temperature drastically to ward off attackers. This can be harmful to the Coal Khezu if used too often.

Physiology

The Coal Khezu isn't very different from its cousins. Its hide is black and dark grey, and much tougher than a normal Khezu's. This helps it blend in with the dark surroundings and survive against the harsh environment as well as the dangerous competitors that surround it. It also has larger and sharper teeth, giving it a more dangerous bite. The biggest difference however, is that it has no electrical capabilities, but it can manually increase its body temperature to sear physical attackers.

Behavior

Coal Khezu spends most of its time in search of food. Within the Obsidian Caves, there aren't many sources of prey it can get its maw on, and it isn't very high on the food chain so it usually goes for scraps. It is also known to frequently attempt to invade nests of other monsters in an effort to get an easy meal from the young.

Abilities

The Coal Khezu uses fire, where its cousins use lightning. It can spit simple fireballs that are bigger than Kut-Ku's, but smaller than the Raths'. It can also spit a fireball into the air, that can split into six, raining down in a ring-like fashion. In G rank this increases to twelve, with two rings of six falling one after another. Instead of surrounding itself with electricity, the Coal Khezu can increase its own body temperature high enough to burn anything that touches it. It can jump forward and walk around while doing this, like its cousins could with their electrical fields. Coal Khezu can still extend its neck as well, even stretching over to its sides to catch attackers off guard.
