Chrome Hypnocatrice are nefarious Rare Species of the Hypnocatrice that have adapted singing and dancing as a lethal offense mechanism against prey and predator alike.

Physiology[]

This rare species is covered in cobalt and silver plumage with dark red eyes. It has extremely powerful legs and a highly potent sleep sac.

Behavior[]

Chrome Hypnocatrice are dangerous rare species of the Hypnocatrice, attacking with ferocity but also displaying the ability to sing as an actual defense mechanism. Depending on the song, the sound streams can severely affect adversaries. This can range from it causing the surrounding monsters to lose their mind and commit abhorrent behaviours, to a particularly strong state of deathly sleep; it can also suppress the adversities physical attributes or completely envelope the mind, putting them in a state of confusion. Even without the songs, Chrome Hypnocatrice displays shockingly deadly physical attacks.

Explanation[]

One of the most underestimated rare species ever discovered. The Guild has greatly questioned the man who discovered and studied this rare species of Hypnocatrice, as he claimed that it affects the environment in ways on-par with Elder Dragons. The man confirmed that the Chrome Hypnocatrice has a particular time each day where it sings and dances for hours. The soundwaves that are emitted from the singing are 'downright lethal', as quoted, affecting the entire ecosystem, starving inhabitants by putting them in a state of sleep paralysis. This is done for such prolonged periods of time that it causes psychological alterations to the affected creatures - they can end up either accidently injuring or killing themselves to confusing their own mates, underlings or young as prey or rivals. The Chrome Hypnocatrice's mere voice can disrupt the entire ecosystem. After these statements were confirmed, Chrome Hypnocatrice wered titled Elder Dragon-Levelled Monsters and are feared far more than most other known rare species, despite the fact that it is a descendant of 'just' Hypnocatrice.

Abilities[]

Chrome Hypnocatrice is capable of much more powerful kicks and can utilize its sleep sac to a more advanced degree than the common species. Its singing and dancing is said to be a marvel to witness, but in reality is absolutely lethal to the listener/observer and the environment around them, greatly affecting the victim's brain and, as a result, also their physique. One of its most dangerous documented abilities is known as the Reapers Sound where victims that are caught in its tranquilizing haze are put to sleep before the nefarious bird wyvern unveils a deadly song that eradicates the life completely out of the sleeping souls, leaving only death behind.

Role in the Food Chain[]

Main Prey: The creatures it puts in a state of sleep paralysis.

Arch-Rivals: Pearl Espinath

Tracks: Chrome Feather pile, Steel Bird tracks

Ecology[]

Habitat Range[]

The Chrome Hypnocatrice habitat range is much more isolated compared to the standard species, often inhabiting lost ruins, temples or very high altitude mountains. Very rarely do they descend upon their skyrise abode aside from seeking out prey that have been immobilized by its vile songs that it can happily feed off of without struggle.

Ecological Niche[]

Being on a much higher position in the food chain than their counterparts, these bird wyverns never really have to be concerned about potential predators or rivals, besides their own kind. However, they do tend to avoid the elusive Pearl Espinas, as they can, surprisingly, injure or even kill Chrome Hypnocatrice with their sharp spikes, advanced fire powers and potent toxins.

Biological Adaptations[]

Possessing a sharp and durable beak as well as strong legs, Chrome Hypnocatrice are formidable fighters. They do not only differ from normal Hypnocatrice in power but also in the fact that they have a pale, almost silver colored plumage, a strong contrast to the rainbow colored feathers of regular individuals which enhances their camouflage in the morbidly 'grey' environments they primarily inhabit.

One of the more distinct traits of the Chrome Hypnocatrice is the ability to sing and unveil soundwaves that can cause very dangerous side-effects, to scale its lethality; it can put an entire ecosystem in a state of sleep paralysis without warning although this depends on the songs that are being sung. This trait puts Chrome Hypnocatrices leagues above the regular in the food chain and has been speculated to have been adapted via singing and dancing mating rituals that have subdued predators, eventually evolving and adapting its songs to devastate prey and predator without risk of physical wounds.

Its currently unknown how Chrome Hypnocatrice songs are able to have so many distorting and nefarious effects although its speculated to do with an organ from their throat or perhaps certain silent sound frequencies unheard of that trigger unwarranted body responses.

Attacks[]

Features all the attacks that Silver Hypnocatrice and HC Silver Hypnocatrice feature. Listed are new attacks:

Boulder Dash: When it slams the ground while performing the quake slam, it will sometimes lift a piece of earth and proceed to launch/kick it at a hunter's direction.

Boulder Dance: Same setup as the Boulder Dash attack, except it will keep kicking the boulder up and down like a basketball while hovering across the area to attempt to crush hunters until the boulder cracks. Inflicts Stun.

Ever-Present Mist: Unveils out a long-lasting cloud of mist that fades away after 10 seconds. Inflicts Sleep.

Pebble Dropdown: It will start slamming its feet into the ground over and over again, causing strong quakes and massive rocks to bounce upwards, before breaking down mid-air and causing a rain of pebbles all across the map. Inflicts Stun.

Narcoceptic State[]

Note: The next stage after its standard rage mode is the Narcoceptic State where it will start doing its singing and dancing attacks.

Another Note: In this state, its sleeping miasma has a noticeably darker hue in colour; this particular sleep miasma instantly puts the hunter to sleep if they're hit by it.

Display of Malice: Chrome Hypnocatrice will start shaking its body around while glaring at the targeted hunter, for several seconds it will dance briefly before unsuspectingly charging at the targeted hunter and unleashing a large flurry of beak pecks that can shred through HP.

Dancing on the Grave: If a hunter has been put to sleep; the Chrome Hypnocatrice will proceed to dance around the sleeping hunter in circles for several seconds before hovering upwards and attempting to slam its foot onto the hunter to finish him/her off. There is a briefly evasion window where the hunter can roll out of the radius of the foot slam. If it succeeds however, it deals extremely high amounts of damage.

Xylophone Xenia: Chrome Hypnocatrice replicates the sounds and mannerisms of the Xylophone instrument; taking steps to the left and right before performing unsuspecting beams of sleep miasma (in a beam-like fashion that is similar to Fatalis's fire beam attacks).

Tampering Tambourine: Chrome Hypnocatrice will replicate the sounds of a tambourine instrument while hovering and slamming its feet into the ground in mannerisms akin to how someone would play the instrument.

Maraca Madness: Chrome Hypnocatrice will shake its body around in a rapid fashion while unleashing brief sounds that are akin to maracas before running across the area while unveiling the soundwaves constantly; its movements while running are relatively similar to how someone would use the maraca instruments.

Deadly Lullaby: It will start singing and dancing coherently and if not flinched or stopped in some way; it will put all the hunters (palicoes, palamutes, nearby monsters, etc. included) into a state of sleep paralysis. At this point, the victim's health will start to drop down to 50% of their retrospective health (this again goes for hunters, palicoes, halks and even the monsters present). It is possible to avoid this attack by superman-diving when Chrome Hypnocatrice poses on the last note.

Psyche Voice: It will start singing and dancing as if choreographed. If not flinched or stopped in some way then surrounding area will briefly appear green and yellow; then the hunter will be inflicted with Confusion and instantly lose 50% of their health (This is based on the health the hunter has, meaning if a hunter only has 10% of health remaining, it will take away 5% of that health rather than instantly kill the hunter).

Suppressor Vocals: It will start singing and dancing violently, if not flinched or stopped in some way then the surrouding area will briefly appear purple to white; then the hunter is inflicted with Suppression and lose 50% of their health automatically (this is based on the health the hunter has, meaning if a hunter only has 10% of health remaining, it will take away 5% of that health rather than instantly kill the hunter).

Retina Tearer: It will start singing and dancing in a very particular manner. If not flinched or stopped in some way, the hunter will be forced to perform the stun gesture. Additionally, they instantly lose 25% of their health.

The Reapers Sound: The Chrome Hypnocatrice's ultimate attack that it performs after several minutes of being in the Narcoceptic State. Chrome Hypnocatrice will go all out and unleash sleep miasma absolutely everywhere while flapping its wings to spread out the miasma before running or hovering to the centre of the area and then it proceeds to sing its mostly deadly song that has different effects based on two circumstances. If a hunter has been put to sleep (likely by the former miasma spreadout) then the hunters health will proceed to drain as Chrome Hypnocatrice sings the song which will result in death (this is similar to Zenith Hypnocatrice's deathly lullaby singing attack). If the hunter was able to avoid the sleep then they'd face the effects of being inflicted with Suppression and Confusion at the same time unless they run to the vicinity behind Chrome Hypnocatrice, this gives a small window where the hunters can attempt to attack Chrome Hypnocatrice and make it flinch to attempt to save those that were caught in the miasma. The Chrome Hypnocatrice will stop its Reaper Sound song after 10 seconds and revert back to its original state.

In-Game Description[]

Monster Hunter Origins: Insurrection[]

Chrome Hypnocatrice
Silver Hypnocatrice Icon by Jeremiah V10 Vindictive rarities of the Hypnocatrice. These cobalt-feathered rare species of Hypnocatrice have adapted and mastered the ability to bring ruin and terror with their sinful songs to cause chaos and death on a large scale. Monstrous and downright vile, they're as dark as the night compared to the day of their orange counterparts.

Monster Hunter Renascence[]

Chrome Hypnocatrice
Silver Hypnocatrice Icon by Jeremiah V10 A monstrous breed of Hypnocatrice unlike any other. The polar opposite to the pacificist nature of the regular Hypnocatrice, these monstrosities are ruthless, vindictive and masters of deception. It is their voice that ends lives and tears apart ecosystems. A fast and yet gruesomely beautiful death, caused by graceful singing and dancing.

Notes[]

  • Re-Design icon is made by Jeremiah V10.
  • Chrome Hypnocatrice is written to be a G-Rank exclusive encounter.
  • Despite also utilizing a singing gimmick, Chrome Hypnocatrice's songs and how it endangers the hunter is vastly different from Warudakos and Gosstalessa.
  • Chrome Hypnocatrice is one of the few monsters of the 'Everlands' to be able to alter the terrain/ecosystem in-game at will alongside Gammuthus, Apavitavar, Patha Fernatos, Duremudira, Midari, Noctis Cephadrome, Ravager Pariapuria, Reaper Valragar, Pearl Espinath, Abyssal Lagiacrus and Zephyr Kushala Daora.
  • It is meant to be a complete overhaul of the Silver Hypnocatrice Rare Species that was present in Frontier in order to justify its Elder Dragon-Level rating.

Its singing gimmick attacks is partially inspired by the Lavendar Town creepypasta although is also adapted into being the gimmick that pushes the rare species of 'Hypnocatrice' into Elder Dragon-Leveled territory.
