The Caverns of El Dorado is an area first introduced in Monster Hunter World, and revamped in Monster Hunter World Cataclysm. The Caverns of El Dorado were a peculiar network of caverns shaped and influenced both by the Everstream and the minerals that Kulve Taroth had collected over the years. Kulve Taroth's nesting grounds once rested within the deepest region of the caverns, from which tremendous geothermal energies once emanated. Now, thanks to Dalamadur, the quiet caverns are alive with the hum of geothermal vents, and new monsters have awoken to find themselves in a far more spacious cave system than before.

Environments[]

The Caverns of El Dorado are a network of caves and passages, with some regions housing unique flora and fauna that are well-adapted to this region. Dalamadur's stomping changed the Caverns in various extreme ways, collapsing some of the ceilings while completely breaking other parts of the Caverns, making them more spacious and open.

Glittering Caverns[]

An expanse of caverns once patrolled by the mighty Kulve Taroth, now home to many other creatures. Everywhere one looks is gold and other precious minerals. It is populated by monsters such as Gajalaka, Goltos, Mosswine and Uragaan as well as some Joranalus and Augnava that prey upon them. Some Euophistos also make it their home here, and fight the predators that may come for them, such as Luxilys. Dalamadur shattered the ceiling of the Caverns, letting in both light and tons of rock, separating parts of the area while opening up others.

Molten Hollow[]

Deeper into the Caverns of El Dorado lie pools of molten gold, deadly hot to the touch. In these sweltering areas, creatures such as Vespoid, Gastodon and Coinquera roam. Larger monsters such as Scoxinis, Lavasioth, Brachydios and Glavenus also call this area home, and fight for supremacy. Due to Dalamadur's passing, some walls broke down and revealed new parts of these broiling caverns.

Cobalt Crystal Grotto[]

Three areas lay undiscovered in the depths of the Caverns of El Dorado, filled with precious blue gems. Many kinds of fungi and flowering plants flourish in the cool blue glow of the crystals, leading to many herbivores taking root here, particularly Gastodon, Seiltsume and Baixiling, as well as larger predators like Chirogna, Luxilys and Augnava.

Monsters by Rank[]

Camps[]

There are 2 known locations of camps.

  • Overlook Camp (1) - Starting camp
  • Goldvein Camp (5) - Found in a crawl space just before the deeper areas, unlocked during the assignment "Golden Thread"

Notes[]

  • The apex monsters of the Caverns of El Dorado are Luxilys and Augnava.
  • Caverns of El Dorado is the second-smallest map.
  • Caverns of El Dorado is mostly comprised of gold-encrusted caves and tunnels with some areas full of molten gold, though a new area was uncovered that is made up of cobalt blue crystals.
  • There is a pair of old Kulve Taroth Horns in area 11.
  • This was the sixth locale destroyed by Dalamadur, but has the biggest change in design.
