Brazen Barroth is a Rare Species of the Brute Wyvern Barroth first appearing in Monster Hunter World Cataclysm.

Physiology[]

Brazen Barroth is a large, bipedal monster characteristic of the Brute Wyvern class, and is similar to a regular Barroth but larger. It is covered in large rigid scales of varying shades of bronze, making it seem metallic. It is noted for the large crown structure atop its skull, which houses its nostrils. Brazen Barroth possesses a pair of small dark orange eyes and a mouthful with numerous long, peg-shaped teeth. It can often be seen with steam emanating from its crest and some parts of its body due to its great body temperature, giving it the appearance of a steam engine.

When in Overheated Mode, Brazen Barroth's head and back will take on the appearance of heated metal, and steam will constantly be pushed out from its crest and between its backplates.

Abilities[]

Like regular Barroth, Brazen Barroth is capable of using its heavy head as a plough to smash through the environment, as well as cause damage to any living thing caught in its way. It can augment its charges with bursts of steam, making it far more deadly than its weaker counterparts, allowing its charges to completely shatter rock and even surpass the mighty Diablos. Due to its higher body temperature, it can expel this steam as a form of attack as well from its mouth.

Brazen Barroth can go into another state where it becomes far more heated and produces a greater amount of steam, known as the Overheated State. In this state it is far more aggressive, and has increased speed, making its charges far more ferocious, charging more than once easily. It can also fire out gouts of steam from its body with greater coverage, even exploding with steam similarly to a Bloodbath Diablos, though the Brazen Barroth's steam explosion is somewhat smaller.

Placement in Food Chain[]

Brazen Barroth is far more macropredatory than its regular counterpart, going after much larger prey to sustain its higher metabolism.

Behaviour Toward Other Monsters[]

Brazen Barroth is even more aggressive thanks to a higher body temperature, and will turf war with large predators with no issue.

Brazen Barroth can leave Large Footprints and Scalded Scales on the ground, and Scorchmarks on walls.

Specific Locale Interactions[]

Brazen Barroth will sometimes be seen wandering an area, reducing the amount of steam build up by releasing it, or else hunting a Neopterons.

Special Behaviour[]

Brazen Barroth will become ready to take on any monster that intrudes on their presence, but will leave them alone if they back down. Some monsters like Dirudon, Gemstone Dirudon, Colossus Banbaro and other large herbivores will be ignored however.

Unique Statuses[]

Brazen Barroth can be affected by the Frenzy Virus and turn Frenzied as a result, and they've even been known to be capable of overcoming the Frenzy Virus and attaining the Apex State as a result. Brazen Barroth could also be found in the Tempered, Hyper and Furied States.

Tempered Brazen Barroth are considered Threat Lv2 Tempered Monsters and have the usual changes of a Tempered monster.

Roar: Brazen Barroth will rear back and then unleash a loud roar, only blockable with max earplugs.
Head Swing: Brazen Barroth will rear back its head before swinging it towards a Hunter, which can damage and knock any Hunters hit back.
Charge: Brazen Barroth will lower its head and charge at a Hunter, which can damage and knock them back. This attack can be repeated twice.
Hipcheck: Brazen Barroth will brace with its hip outward for a moment before will lunging forward hip-first, which can damage and knock back any Hunter hit.
Tail Sweep: Brazen Barroth will sweep its tail behind it as it turns, dealing damage and knocking down any Hunters hit.
Tail Swings: Brazen Barroth will swing its tail twice behind it, knocking away and damaging Hunters hit by the attack.
Steam Blast: Brazen Barroth will rear back its head before blasting out steam as a small explosion near its mouth, knocking back and dealing damage to any Hunters hit while inflicting Steamblight.
Steam Breath: Brazen Barroth will step forwards and unleash a long breath of steam from its mouth in a sweeping horizontal arc, knocking back and dealing damage to any Hunters hit while inflicting Steamblight.

Head Slam: Brazen Barroth will rear up before slamming its head down onto a Hunter, which can damage and knock any Hunter hit away.
Lunging Slam: Brazen Barroth will brace before lunging into the air and slamming down on a Hunter with its body, knocking away and damaging Hunters hit by the attack.
Steam Charge: Brazen Barroth will brace for a moment before unleashing steam to propel itself forwards in a much swifter charge than normal, knocking back and dealing damage to any Hunters hit while inflicting Steamblight.
Steam Slam: Brazen Barroth will rear up while charging steam before slamming its head down, unleashing a blast of steam with the slam, knocking away and damaging Hunters hit while inflicting Steamblight.

Overheated State[]

In this state, any Steam based attack from the Brazen Barroth will also inflict Fireblight.[]

Engine Pulse: Brazen Barroth will begin shaking before letting out an explosion of steam, which knocks away and damages Hunters hit while inflicting Steamblight and Fireblight.
Bulldozer Charge: Brazen Barroth will charge up before unleashing steam to charge forwards with its head lowered, steam being expelled from its head while it charges, knocking back and dealing damage to any Hunters hit while inflicting Steamblight and Fireblight.
Engine Burst: Brazen Barroth will let out a roar before becoming charged with steam, charging forwards at a Hunter and then leaping at them, letting out a large explosion of steam when it reaches them, knocking back and dealing damage to any Hunters hit while inflicting Steamblight and Fireblight if they survive.

Brazen Barroth can be mounted on their head, back, or tail. When its head is mounted; it will thrash it about, slam it into the ground or smash its head into a wall to knock the hunter off. When its back is mounted; it will thrash, perform a charge or smash the side of its body into a wall to knock the hunter off. If its tail is mounted; it will slam it into the ground, whip it around or smash it into a wall to knock the hunter off.
